Shouldn't do. Someone may correct me but I think it needs re-valving to suit the heavier spring to ensure it performs the best, but you could just have it re-sprung.

yeah in the tutorial it says "depending on how much you want to spend, you may want to get it re valved" so i assumed it wasnt critical. but il ask the garage and see how much they will charge etc.

I wouldn't send it to any garage. A specialist is your best bet, get it done right once not once wrong and once to correct the wrong.

yeah i smell money... im not prepared to pay 3 figures on shock re-valving. il get it re-sprung, i was watching a video on changing a spring, apparently you only need a c-spanner to get the lock ring off and the rest is easy. but this was for a different shock. il see if its the same concept for the bmw one.

You'll need a spring compressor too, that I'm sure of.

well this is how he does it.. its looks straight forward but like i said its not the same make. i just watched to see how it was done and thought maybe they all have the same concept

The bmw shock has a bottom collar, you need to compress the spring to remove it.

Haha that made me laugh. Anyway Ersan there isnt a cheap way to take the spring off, using a good set of spring compressors will still be quite a bit of hassle. Most places that overhaul shocks will have a big hydraulic compressor to remove the spring in about 20 seconds but one of those will set you back alot of money. Will be worth asking some local garages if they have one, wouldnt cost you much to swap the springs over too.
