Re: Smevs Bikes - Past and Present!
:) I almost got excited too lol!
Just been checking it over a little more, found a few things I'm not concerned about but prove its an ex race engine - lock wire holes for the sump and sump plug - some liquid metal repairs to the R/H casing - and a small bit of gravel rash ......... To a rocker cover!!! I know it's gravel rash as there appears to be a small piece stil lodged on there!
Just as well I'm stripping it down and checking it all over!!

Re: Smevs Bikes - Past and Present!
While the bike is apart I am planning on sorting the rest of the panels for my other paint scheme - 'Mister Donut' - I was thinking on having white wheels with this scheme.
Whats is everyones opinion on this? Stick with the grey marchesini colour or go white?
If I do go with white wheels, will they suit the Eddie Stobbart colours too?
Or should it be a completely different colour such as the red from the Mister Donut scheme?

Well with me being made redundant from the RAF, things have taken a back seat for a while.
The bike has been totally stripped down with the engine out and on the bench - again stripped down and degreased - ready for reassembly.
I've polished up the frame and swingarm again while i have lots of space to work in.
I've also decided to sell the Stobart Fairing - Spread the word!!!!! the whole set of plastics is available and they are all good condition genuine panels.
updates will come - slowly as will pics of the new panels in their new scheme

Re: Smevs Bikes - Past and Present!
Engine rebuild underway - got it built upto the point of doing valve clearances - they were all way off!
So between the ones in my old engine and the ones in the new rebuilt engine i should have enough!
The Panels are all gone and ready to be fitted to another forum members bike so keep an eye out for that one! I hope he looks after them! Dan!!
My undertray and tank are being done with in the next week or so so I can atleast get the bike back together minus the main fairing.
Then I'll be able to balance the carbs, wire in the dash properly to get the revs working , and sort out the new lights.

Re: Smevs Bikes - Past and Present!
Sorry for the lack of updates - I've been busy trying to sort my life out after being made redundant.
Back to the bike - tank and subframe went to get sprayed, then I had second thoughts and got them all back - I don't want to do any damage to freshly painted panels so i'm waiting to get the bike running correctly before sending off for paint. I can see a lot of 'tank on/ tank off' moments ahead.
As for the engine, it's back in the frame, electrics fitted, just have to fit a new thermostat housing as it broke while I was reassembling it. The o ring was too small, slipped out of place as I torqued it down and broke part of the casing/ housing.
So awaiting a replacement from a top forum member
Then it's exhaust on, rads on, undertray and wiring/ battery, oil and coolant, carbs airbox and tank.
Simples :)
