It was a 'bit damp' on the way, but had dried up quite a lot for the ride home. Good to catch up with other members and to get out on my VFR. I got quite a few pointers on bits to change/mod/etc, thanks all.

I thought I'd killed the engine on the way back. After leaving the motorway porndog went left at the roundabout, I went right. As I'm merrily rolling along the engine goes down onto three cylinders. It then picks up for a short while, then starts coughing and spluttering.

I'd not bothered to check my directions before I left as I assumed I knew the way back. I recognise some places along the road, from travelling back last year. Then I remembered I'd gone the wrong way back last year! I get to a set of lights and the engine dies.

As it's a new bike all sorts of things are going through my head that could be wrong, I'd not had the plugs out, etc. I then had a brainwave that saved me, I turned the tap to the 'reserve' position :ugeek: Pushed the button and away we went, still in the wrong direction but who cares. I'd filled up the night before so it's either a small tank, or it can be thirsty

I didn't bother to stop and check directions, I just headed to places I recognised and ended up back on the correct road. The bike didn't miss another beat once I'd given her some more fuel . (and yes I have put the tap back to the on position ;) )

I got a couple of photos from the day -

OK who spoiled the photo by putting a Blandit in it?
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

that will be my r1 and dont worry they will come off with the jet wash when i clean her (although the plan was to strip and re-laquer the carbon bodywork last winter now on hold till next year. and yes it is all carbon!)
