Added two old shims (HRC spec 5mm) I had from a previous bike to add some rear ride height. The round shape didn't fit in the recessed area in the frame, so I had to square them off.

hope you fitted the discs before balancing the wheels up.
Yes, I checked the wheel only, the wheel and tire, and wheel and rotors to get an idea of where to put the weight. It's not as accurate as dynamic balancing but it works and it saves a ton of cash especially when going to the track.

:D

used to use the same kind of kit to balance classic car wheels ..

although, i did suffer brain fade a month or two back and have some freshly painted rims fitted up with tyres and balanced before re-fitting the discs... front wheel was so far out it felt like it was going to rip the forks off above 80mph .. :(

Fortunately over the years I have never had a problem. I just get it within the ball park and it seems to work for me. I noticed on this set of tires that there was no longer a green dot. You used to line the green dot up with the valve stem and it was always real close. Anyway, if I ever have a problem I'll just take them to the shop and have them balanced the "proper way".

Peter, I thought about the assembly line thing. What is going to take me months to assemble they can produce at the factory in mere hours. It's amazing when you add up the number of parts that it takes to make up a bike like this. I literally have a dozen boxes in the garage filled with parts and everytime I get done with something I think I am making progress and then I open up another box and say shite, more parts to clean!

It's OK though because just like up North or in the UK you have the "summer" riding season, down here we don't ride as much in the summer months because of the heat, that is like our "winter" time off. The best riding for us is in the winter months, so although it is summer right now, this is actually my "winter" project. I still have time to get it together before the real riding season starts. I'd like it to hit the road and track in mid to late September. Trackdays down here in the summer are brutal. We still go during the summer months but you have to start drinking water 2-3 days in advance and brings fans, coolers, or if possible someone with an RV or trailer that has air conditioning. After a 20 minute session on the track in 95-100 degree weather, you peel off the sticky leathers, or rather you have someone else peel them off you, and collapse into a chair. It's real easy to get heat exhaustion and start to do some really stupid things on the track, especially in the later sessions. Having a beautiful, smaller, Honda V-4, 400 cc, sportbike to throw around should make it much easier though!!!! And the cost savings on tires is going to be awesome too.

It sure makes you appreciate what a gruelling event something like suzuka must be.

Just looking at this and thought wow those front intake trumpets are huge, are they standard? I read about HRC ones being shorter somewhere I think, perhaps this is what I have as the bike was running no airbox and huge jets when I bought it.

Same angle but looks very different, yours looks cleaner but that's because I didn't use flash ;)

In fact the more I look at them the more I think the rear stacks on mine may be a bit shorter too? I'm intrigued now. :geek:

Yeah, I think I remember reading that the HRC ones were shorter also. What size jets were in it?

I just read the HRC-RVF manual and it states..............

"Replace two air fanner(20mm) on rear head side to front head side. Install two air fanner (30mm) in a racing kit on rear head side."

Never heard them called air fanners before?!

So for the HRC set up they actually put the longer ones (30mm) to the rear and the smaller ones (20mm) to the front. Stock set up has longer ones to the front and shorter rear? Must have to with the dynamics of an open air box.
