could have put money on you replying evil (:
the stupid thing is i already have a 4jh main loom will it work with the 3tjs headlight harness etc? im sure i read in this post that if you used the 4jh loom that the clocks needed wiring ??
.
.
just had a look through the post and it doesnt mention the clocks i must have dreamt that up, but it does mention a mod for the fuel sender unit, but on page 10 & 11 one guy is insistant that the coils from the 600 are a must? i was under the impression that the 400 coills would work, or atleast give a spark..
i know the timing on the engines is different but the cdi would alter the spark from the coils wouldnt it?

Yes the CDI will trigger a spark when it reads the pulse generated from the flywheel and pickup. I'd use the 4JH loom so you don't need to mess with the connections from the CDI - then do the fuel switch mod and your pretty much there.
The 400 coils are apperntly lower power than the 600's - that's without reading the thread - fit the 600 coils. I think the engine should run with 400 coils or at least give you a spark. There's a couple of wiring diagrams on the forum - go to the front page and then info or manuals

The headlilghts and indicators will all connect up just fine, the 4JH loom will have an extra connector for the sidelight but just don't connect it to anything!

I used the clocks from the 4JH as my 3TJ clocks were smashed. The 4JH clocks bolt directly onto the mounting for the 3TJ clocks, but I'm not sure if the connectors are the same. The 4JH has a fuel warning light which is missing from the 3TJ clocks, but using the 4JH loom will have that feature.
Coils from both will work as it is the CDI that tells them when to spark, but the connecors are different so using 3TJ coils with 4JH loom will need some mods.
If you don't mod the fuel sender wires, then the tacho will jump to 8k revs as part of the in built 4JH diagnostics. The mod is really easy.

The 4JH clocks will have the right redline on the revcounter too

But the redline on the 4JH is 13k, whereas the 3TJ is 14k. Not much difference at all.

I think that it might be time to slot a 600cc engine into my 3TJ, its not run for about 4 years now and I still haven't found a good 400cc engine. I probably don't have time to do it yet, but I my business is doing well at the moment and I have a few pounds tucked away for a rainy day.
Still a bit wary after getting my fingers burnt with the last 400cc engine I bought, but will just have to be a bit more careful who I deal with this time.
Might as well start with a trawl through ebay for a donor bike/engine and send a PM to Kayla for some mounts.

You're probably better off buying a running bike with dodgy cosmetics, a shitfighter that somebody has loving messed up maybe. As long as it runs you should be ok.
