Re: Svedberg's RVF Race bike
While we're on that subject...here's the new Ti rear axle, complete with modified std RC51 adjuster blocks and Ti nut. Weighing in at 427 g altogether, which can be compared to the std RC51 axle alone at over 800g.
Ti is quite tough to machine, but God, I love these parts http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd98 ... ild297.jpg

I love Ti, it looks great, it sounds great when pipes are made from it, and best of all its bloody light.
Do you machine these parts yourself lasse?
Dont spose you have the drawings for the axle nut and spacer you made for the rs axle? i can get it made im just not that confident on giving the CNC guy the exact right measurements.

Re: Svedberg's RVF Race bike
Thanks mate!
Don't tell anyone, but unfortunately, there are no drawings of these parts...I just take my measurements and then go hog wild on the machinery. Every now and then, something actually useful comes out when the smoke clears...
I could supply measurements off my parts if you'd give me a few days? Nothing complicated on these, really.
Cheers/
Lasse
P.S. CNC machinery is for girls, by the way...

So you do your work on a lathe then? i thinking of getting a small one but dont wanna spend a lot of money on something only to find out its not man enough for the work i wanna do on it. What do you use to turn out the parts your doing? and are you doing your own Ti parts with this?
If i can get the kit the mill Ti parts for a decent price i'll be one happy camper

Re: Svedberg's RVF Race bike
I use old manual workshop machinery of around 1960:s vintage. Unfortunately these are at work, so i don't have unlimited access to them. What you need for a small home workshop is a small lathe and a medium size milling machine. Forget about new, Chinese junk, and search the 'bay for older industrial units, of which there are plenty to have at great prices. Be real picky about the condition and the accessories supplied, and know what you want. If you're not used to these machines, bring a friend who is.
The big parts for the HRC axle are not Ti, but 7075 t6 alu, by the way. Lighter than Ti, and easily strong enough for this application.

Re: Svedberg's RVF Race bike
Sorry to be dense, but is this
an aluminum sprocket carrier/cush drive?
Truly revolting Ti work, btw. I'm going to be sick now...

It's the PVM RS250 magnesium sprocket carrier, yes.

Re: Svedberg's RVF Race bike
Magnesium? Magnificent. The NC30's sprocket carrier is far too heavy.
Please drop the PVM carrier on the scales before assembly. It would be interesting to know it's weight. I'm not sure I want to know what it cost ($300?)! Does anyone make an aluminum alternative for the NC30?
