Those two in the picture ARE the same gasket.

There crush gaskets.

The new copper ring you have will get crushed and flattened when you tighten up the exhaust, this is what causes the seal and also what makes it look like the one you took out. Looking at the flattened one you can see the 'ring' mark the exhaust has made into it as it has flattened the copper out.

There are two different gaskets you need.

The exhaust ports themselves in the cylinder head all use the same type, so theres 4 of them in total. The rear-down pipes to the stubby manifold use a different thickness gasket (in fairness you CAN use the same type but it can be a bit tricky)

okay. so ive been trying to install my rear downpipe to the manifold and ive been using the thin copper rings as the gaskets...but the downpipe doesnt seem to crush the gasket in all the way...and i over tightened the bracket and now its bent....so is there some other gasket i have to use for the rear pipes? like this one?

i know it says front downpipe but could i be able to use this for rear?

what you might find is the old ones are still inthere i had 2 gaskets when i removed my exhaust which i used a dental pic too pull out,

no thats NOT the right one, that is the seal to join the front pipes to the rear pipes (under the sump)
you need these , part no. 18291-mr8-000 ,,little copper rings they have them on david silver but no picture
and as ricky says ensure the old ones are out sometimes it looks like there is none in there but there asqushed in so tight its hard to see , really dig in there with a flat haed screwdriver

I posted you a picture up not long ago containing the part numbers of the gaskets and what goes where when you first asked.

The gaskets don't need to be fully crushed, as long as they seal they are ok. Are they sealing?

oh yes i rememer you posted this before...they are not crushing but after i tightend the nuts i can still see abit of the seals....i dont know if your suppose to see the seals?. anyway and i am definatley sure the old seals are out...ive checked and tried to dig with screwdriver etc. its clean.

the copper coloured one? i can just use this even thought it doesnt crush in all the way and i can still see abit of the seal when ive tightened the nuts....it looks like the downpipe wont fit in properly..but if its meant to look like that then ok.

okay. so i did a complete overhaul of my bike...mechanical wise...and two weeks ago i took out the rear subframe and so i discconected the whole wires. now ive put it back together and when i turn on the ignition, nothing happens...no lights no nothing...did i not connect it properly...i left them outside for two week covered, but SOME rain must have gotten into the wires...not that it should affect it this much....also i found that my negative leads one end isnt connected to anywhere ...i thought that jsut conencts onto the subframe for grounding? anyway i tried that and still nothing worked...and now the only thing i havent checked is the battery voltage...i doubt it would drain that much this quickly though....any idea? cheers guys! and where does the other end of the negatuve lead connect properly? thanks. i should of taken pictures before i discconected everything so when it came to putting it all back together i would of had the pics to look at :\

just checked my battery voltage and it sits at 12.26v...is that normal?
