Its just a fine stainless mesh mate, it was an offcut from work so decided to put it to good use

I have both sitting on my bench right now. The NC35 pistons are only marginally lighter then the NC30 ones. The main difference seems to be the skirt design which allows the wrist pin to be shorter on the 35's. I think this is where the main weight saving is.vfrman wrote:I have RVF pistons on VFR rods in my NC30. The pistons are the same except for the weight. The RVF are lighter. For some reason i thought the rvf pistons were higher compression?lukemillar wrote:I have both sitting on my bench right now. The NC35 pistons are only marginally lighter then the NC30 ones. That's what I have heard, but looking at the volume of the tops compared to the30's then it isn't a huge difference. When I start reassembling mine I'll measure the CCV with both installed and come up with some numbers so we'll know exactly how much of a difference there is.reverse cylinder jim wrote: For some reason i thought the rvf pistons were higher compression?
rvf pistons raise the compression on nc29 engines, perhaps that's what caused the confusion?reverse cylinder jim wrote: For some reason i thought the rvf pistons were higher compression?
A friend of mine checked the part numbers on the 30/35 pistons and turns out they are the same.Cammo wrote:rvf pistons raise the compression on nc29 engines, perhaps that's what caused the confusion?reverse cylinder jim wrote: For some reason i thought the rvf pistons were higher compression?
