Hi Sarah,
There have been numerous individual e/ms sent to you regarding pistons for an NC35. This is an effort to make clear that we have agreed to one standard for the requirements of the pistons. As a group, we have commitments for at least 28 to 32 pistons. I have attached a pdf file for your consideration. We are interested in cost and possible delivery time after your review of our order details.

WOW, dealing with life issues (mom's cancer treatment) and the start of our season here means I haven't been on the forum since the big change.... thanks so much for taking up the lead on this. I'm definitely chomping at the bit to get the ball rolling on these pistons so I can get my bike put together!!!

Keep us posted, and looks like I'm re-subscribed (lost email notification when the forum switch was made)... so should be on my radar now.

I just sent an e/m to Sarah, reminding her that we are still waiting for a reply on the piston order.

Let's hope this gets some traction. I'm very close to selling my 600RR once it's motor is rebuilt and focusing on the NC-30. My buddy brought his NC-35 out of mothballs and has been racing it, making me very jealous.

On a related note, I'm debating whether or not to cryo-treat the innards of the motor. Mostly because my budget got slashed by 75% due to my 600RR deciding to spin a crank bearing.... what are your gents' thoughts on the machine work, a straight +2mm bore and put er together or what?

How about head work?

My recent experience with Cryo suggests that it is worth every penny. Not just for preventing failures from breakage, but prolonging the life of the parts. We are finding that many of the parts are now discontinued from Honda. So, making them last as long as possible while abusing the snot out of them is critical to the longevity of these bikes. My vote is Cryo EVERYTHING!!!! REM polish anything you can as well. It's worth power AND longevity.

It's doubtful the pistons will weigh exactly the same as stock. Since this is a 360 degree flat-plane crankshaft the balance is absolutely critical to keeping the thing from shaking itself to oblivion. Get the crank balanced, Cryo'd and REM polished and you will have a very happy crankshaft. These guys kick ass on pricing and quality of service: http://www.cryosciencetechnologies.com/ Here's the gains from just Cryo and REM to one of our 450s. This engine is EXACTLY the same parts and set-up. It has just had the parts sent to Cryoscience.

Excuse the Blue graph cutting in-and-out, our tach pick-up on the dyno is old and failing sometimes.

A tremendous amount of power gains are in the heads. Since these bikes are so highly tweaked for power from Honda, the ports are extremely sensitive to changes. Especially changes in the wrong direction. So, make sure whomever is doing the porting knows what they are doing. It's really easy to kill 2 to 4 horses just in the exhaust ports. We are making over 80hp with the following mods ONLY:
57mm pistons
Porting
NC-30 carbs with stock airbox
RVF HRC Ignitor
The following parts are bone-stock:
Rods
Crank
Valves
Cams (not even timed)
Here's a graph showing the difference with stock pistons vs. 57mm CP Pistons. Everything else is the same (this used to be my bike).


So, there is a ton of power to be extracted from these engines if you do it right. So.....do it right.

Thanks for that information Mike. I'd deffinatly get my new motor cryo'd however im not sure any one in new zealand does it.
Will shot peeining give similar results??
