Re: Won't start
I am in the process of working out what bits I am missing for the fairing assembly
I need16 x 90202-05180 washer plates, these are three euros each!!
Could someone tell me the size and material - ID,OD and thickness and I will source else where!
They are the washers that fit under the upper fairing bolts. I don't have one so can't make a start.
Thanks

Chimey nut, panel clips ....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-FAIRING- ... 19df7467fd
You also need 3 well nuts, 1 on each fairing inner in the middle hole (just forward of the reserve switch) and where the two fairings meet below the shock. I use a screen nut kit
Tip - the two self tapping screws that hold faing inners to the top fairing (4 screws total) cut the ends off, if you do them up tight they push into the top fairing

Re: Won't start
the plate washers come in 5 packs for £1.99 from
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-Yamaha-90 ... 0854686265
they've only got 2 packs but if you buy one, then source the rest from a local fixings shop, probably for pennies

Just added some more images to photo bucket (link above) showing plastics and repairs. Having so many problems with decals ( side panel stripes) that I have got my son to scan images of the original sales brochures then scale it off the scan to create something near to original.

Re: Won't start
Paint looks very canny,Mang.
Did you do it or farm it out ?
For a proper job on the decals; you need someone that has access to the vectors from the originals.
Someone on here will have used these;hopefully they will pipe up.
I have had decs. straight from the vector and even then they are not perfect, they are usually scanned from a finished panel, not an original unfitted decal; The curvature of the panel distorts the reproduction.
It is worth taking a lot of care, money and time on the refinishing with a bike as tidy as you have this.
Decs. from a good company will not be cheap-get them to fit them-if they make a balls up they should redo them.
hipringle (Mark) {rarely posts in this section now} has experience of this also.
One of the biggest problems is you finish the application and they look perfect;then 2 days later a slight reaction has occured with the adhesive on the vinyl and small raised dimples appear on the surface.
I believe this is from using inferior or old vinyl;the decal man will blame a dirty panel surface!
It also may be from using washing up liquid (has lots of salts in it for cutting purposes) as a decal lubricant. Perhaps liquid baby soap would be better ?It does happen even with unlubed panels though.
Ensure the laquer is compatable if you go down that route.

Re: Won't start
Thought I would give an update as to where i am.
Having given up any hope of getting an original seat unit and having repaired all the plastics it's high time I got on with re spraying.
The problem with the re spray is that the original blue stripes, which are decals, are no longer available. So from as many original images as possible I have recreated the shapes and sizes the decals need to be in paper and trialled them on the plastics using scotch tape to hold them in place while I check if they are ok. There are loads of bits of blue stripes (16 in total) all on compound curves. A real bastard of a job.
Just about to press the button on the decals and a original seat unit( with original paint) comes up on yahoo Japan which I won for £40. This will allow me to check the accuracy of some of the decals. So put ordering on hold.
So in summary progress is very very slow. Summer sliding by. Bike will be totally original as it was only the seat unit letting me down.

Re: Won't start
Sometimes it just pays to wait; suprising what just surfaces cheap immediately after one has just spent a good bit of money on refurbing a part.
Keep us updated on how you got on with getting the part from Yahoo;
there was a thread on here with members using "Moriwaki man" as the bidder/exporter but I believe it was lost in the site revamp.
There are lots of bits on Yahoo but it is the extra fees that cripple the benefits.
Do any other members have experience of using an intermediatory ?

Re: Won't start
Have to admit I have used yahoo Japan for a long time and yes, duty and shipping costs a lot, but sometimes the bargains are amazing - other times not a bargain but the bits are there.
