Nice work ..what's the reason for going to the bother of fitting a hydraulic clutch though when a good cable properly routed is light in operation anyway .have always found on any vfr750 and my 1200 that their vague in operation in comparison to a cable ?

New direction for the bike, which was kickstarted unfortunately by it being blown over in the wind last weekend!

This was the damage









Pretty annoying really, but it's finally kicked me into turning this into a track bike. I've been pondering it a while as I hardly ride it on the road now, love track days, have a second bike and don't want to keep two bikes on the road to be honest.

So before it even got blown over I got a race seat unit from Benny.



Fitting this I took off the rear indicators which one of them had been horribly bodged on after a crash (not me), removed the number plate and pillion pegs and swapped the seat over as I have a track day on the 11/04. I'm hopefully going to get a cut down subframe and undertray to replace the current which I'll save if I ever want to put this back on the road.







Then I set about taking apart the front end to assess damage and start repairing.
Luckily the screen brace bent back into place nicely in a vice.



I removed the switchgear, headlights, indicators and associated wiring which again will be kept.



Taking off the headlight relay etc has helped tidy up spaghetti junction a bit. Considering trying to get hold of a race loom too.



The top fairing and one of the mid panels needs to be fibreglassed to make sure it's structurally sound for the track day as I won't get track fairings to me and ready by then. After the track day they'll be on the back burner to be fixed up properly and painted then stored.

Can't do much about the tank over than patch over to stop rust as I'm not repainting it if it's staying as part of the track kit.

Should be a few more updates in the next couple of weeks

Couple of pictures from my outing at Cadwell Park on the 14/03. Really pleased with these, hoping to get some more good ones on the 11/04 at Bedford!

Making a track bike continued...

Stuck the top fairing and left mid back together with some fibreglass resin.





Fibreglassed up some rain light holes in the new seat unit as I won't need them, and I want it watertight from above.



Removed my koso voltmeter as it's been temperamental recently and will be put on the XJ, which has left a tidier "cockpit".



Put some silver hammerite I had left over from painting the XJ's wheels onto the tank where the fuel had stripped it. Just to prevent rusting really.



And a couple of shots of how the bike will look (minus screen) for the next track day. After that I should hopefully have received, repaired and fitted some proper track fairings and other track goodies

Small update this time.

Managed to get a replacement screen in time for my track day, nice light tint shall do nicely.



Also got some race/track rearsets and fitted them the day before the track day. Took me a couple of sessions to adjust to them!



But they did allow me to do this for the first time



I couldn't stop dragging both knees round the southwest circuit at Bedford after the first one went down, so much fun!

Sometime this week I should have a large box of track based goodies coming for me to properly convert the bike and loose a few more grams from it's weight

You sorted a loom? I think I may have a track one in my pile of wiring.
What else do you need?

I do not have a loom yet no, does it have the speedo connectors still on it? I've got my koso dash wired to original plugs so I didn't have to chop the loom, and I need to keep the speedo wiring, not just the tacho etc.

I think I'm sorted for a bit other than that mate

I've got a few, I think there's 3, one with fuel pump one stock and one track, but don't know if we chopped the track one up to make my current loom.
