Cool..

Bring it on.

Should be just about enough coin left on my poor old credit card to manage this lot... :ninja:

"Hi Tim,

You are correct in assuming that there are several people with tentative orders in place.

However, I require 12 pistons of exactly the same spec. All of the above orders are for completely different specs so I am waiting on more orders.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information.

Kind regards

Miss Sarah Lambert

We need to clarify that we are all after identical spec pistons. She seems confused with all the emails coming in. Maybe we should compile a list of emails and names so she can/we can contact her as a single group with a single spec.

It does look like Sarah is confused or lost track of the potential order. I read the list as 28 57mm pistons. I don't see a price break at 30 pistons, but if she will, than I will up my order by 2 pistons for an even 30. Someone might need a spare for some reason. I see we don't have any final specs on the pistons from them yet. As far as I am concerned they have to be as lite as possible, like Mike's Cosworth pistons, or fairly close.

Ill take a 5th piston if it makes 30. Im sure catastophic valve failure is only a short period away.

As lite as possible will make it more expensive, thats never a good spec to give to an engineer. I think a reaonsbale spec is requesting the pin + piston weight be equal or less than stock 55mm pistons. That should be easily acheivable and not increase the price too much. that would be 133grams. We can ask for lower but i imagine itll increase the price a fair bit due to the added machine time. just look at some of the prices mikes things have cost

Mikes cosworth pistons looked to have an rather sexy short skirt on them. The prices she has quoted are for full skirts i see.

I agree, what is optimum and what we can afford can be two different matters. As light as possible (no more than stock) is to give the rods and crank a chance at life. Once the order is confirmed there will be some other things to consider as a group; two rings, three rings etc. Two work good in an RC30, and is slightly lighter. Three ring might be better for a high mile street motor. I guess we need to see what they can offer first.

Out of curiosity, when would payment be required and what payment methods are allowed (would we be paying Omega directly?)? I might be able to stretch to it by next month?

But Either way, I think someone needs to flesh out the details a bit more, and then we need to send Sarah a single email with the names and email addresses of the people wanting pistons and how many, as well as a single spec for the piston.

Not sure exactly what we could define with the piston, obviously Bore and for this one at least that's a definate 57mm, but rings as jgrc30 says 2 or 3, I'd say 2 as these are gonna be heavily tuned engines really, might as well go the whole hog? and can we ask for a short (er than standard) skirt in order to reduce weight?

And of course compression ratio, which seems to be defined as 13.5:1?

But yeah, a single order to Omega with a list of names/emails for the buyers, and a single spec of piston seems to be the next step, just need to ensure that we're getting what everyone wants :p

Hi All, It's gotten quiet on this thread. I'm a late comer to this list, so I don't know who to push to get this forward. Looks like we need names, addresses etc on one e/m for Sarah. It will probably take some time for them to produce the pistons. I would suggest that when they come back with tech questions we draft Mike Norman for answers, as he has vast experience with piston projects. Hope he agrees. Sorry for the prod if one of you are working on this.
We raced the NC35 again last weekend and had over a mile lead on 2ed place in 6 laps on a 2.5 track. (Willow Springs). Also took 2 second places against a pro class rider, we had the speed, but he was better. The 57mm pistons really wake up the little Honda.

yep i agree, Someone needs to nominate themselves to lead this i think and be the point of contact for Sarah re: technical stuff and make everything clearer.

Thanks for making us jealous of power, Im about to go get spanked at our final national round by 85+hp custom framed SV's and tigcraft framed SVX550's. yay. so pistons procurement is high up my priority list.

could be interested in the 57mms dependent on spec etc.

If someone gets me Sarah's e-mail addy I can put togther a drawing specifying critical dimensions for them to follow. This should help eliminate errors and miscomunication. The confusion might lie withthe rest of the piston specs, not just the bore diameter. I ass-u-me you're all going with a drop-in piston configuration meaning stock pin height. But, what about rings: 2 or 3?
