Re: Fairings from China/Hong Kong
Update - I received these last week, had to pay taxes on them but it still came to only about £275 all inc...
The finish is quite good, on the back they are not so good but most of this isn't seen.
Unfortunately though I went to fit a couple of panels yesterday and the fitment, tabs and holes are just waaay off.
Nothing a little modification won't fix but a little annoying.
You definitely get what you pay for.
I'm going to fit them this week and I think the end result will be good.. we'll soon see!

Re: Fairings from China/Hong Kong
I am considering a set for the 35 as original panels have all but dried up.

Re: Fairings from China/Hong Kong
The NC30 that i bought recently had these chinese fairings and all things considered they arnt half bad.
The blue is a bit mis-match (probably not expensive to resolve).
They dont fit perfect but once tweaked they seem fine.
On the good side though they are painted better than some bikes iv seen.
and when its being ridden no one is the wiser!

Re: Fairings from China/Hong Kong
my chinese fairing was at depot yesterday so i picked it up and started putting it on!
i was highly impressed! the paint was very clean and crisp! no runs or smudges! i got the repsol motogp rep colours by the way! it hook a few hours to fit basically because when i purchased the bike in project condition it didnt have any fairing apart from nose cone and seat! so had to figure it out from start to finish
only 4 holes had to be drilled! they were for the rear seat unit brackets for the rear seat catch/lock
the rest all lined up after a bit of jigging
customs fees were only £31.66 which is great!!! would rather no fees but what do you expect with royal mail!
i will be adding pictures tomorrow! all i need now is the tank sprayed up to match the orange and the wheels powder coated to match...

Re: Fairings from China/Hong Kong
To be fair, it's not the RM who charge, it's HMRC. You'll pay 3.7% on top of the total cost of the parts, shipping and insurance, then 20% VAT on top of the lot. That's why you first look at the price of Tyga stuff and wonder why the price in the UK seems almost Dollar to Pound, then you do the sums on shipping and taxes and realise that while you'll save literally a couple of percent at best if you import it yourself, if there was any issue that resulted in needing to return a fairing panel, you'd be stuffed! Unless you order a tiny packet, it's unlikely to slip through customs without getting duty and VAT applied (or unless the shipper has been naughty and declared it as a gift or of very low value). What annoys me is when the carrier charges you for the privilege of paying the duty on your behalf without even asking! DHL did that to me once. £10 customs, and they wanted £15 on top for having paid it... I sent them a tenner and told them I'd not asked them to pay the duty on my behalf so they were taking the piss. Never got a peep out of them back!
