Rear wheel turning Stiff at some points?

okay. so i have a stripped speedo drive cog. (the white plastic part) and im starting to think it got stripped due to my rear wheel turning very stiffly at some points... here is how i tested... i stuck a 13 or 14mm hex socket into the speedo drive....and started turning it witht he wrench...it turns freely but at some point it would start to get very stiff..and then free itself again and so forth..it would do this in a loop. im thinking at the stiff point the cog started to strip and eventually stopped working..... what could be the cause of this stiffness at somepoints? the chain? sprockets? anything else? cheers guys

Does the chain go tight at the stiff points? if so then theres your answer, if not then i suspect the hub being the problem. Cant see it stripping a speedo drive tho

hmm i havent checked the chain..il try it tomorrow. i dont know i thought it could of caused the plastic drive to strip as it gets stif more force is acting on the plastic drive and then the speedo cable starts to dig itself in and eventually strips.

Na i doubt it, the bolt turns the plastic drive not the other way round so theres no resistance against it.
