Re: Project track dog! Getting less doggy!
Well ive just looked at Marks race bike build thread and he did a 1m 2.8 in the race he won at Mallory so i have a fair way to go but feel confident i can get mine down a few seconds just by being braver into Gerrards and gearing it for better drive out of Edwina's and the hairpin as it was not pulling as good as it could.

lol..yeah, but I had done nearly 20 races by then! My first ACU test there (on no9) was 1m10s and 11s.
under a minute is the target for fast people.
them times are good James - when you get the tow from faster guys if you race there you'll be roosting. See how fast DX4's times improved once he stopped throwing it on the deck.

Since we were last out ive spent alot of time changing things like getting myself comfy on the bike as being 6' 2" i really struggled and it seems to have worked. Can tell what the bike is doing and way more confident on it.
My mate went with me and took a few pictures of me, he stood just after Edwina's so none with my knee down but think they look good.

Re: Project track dog! Getting less doggy!
Managed to get abit more done on my spare engine tonight, its now stripped and ready to have everything checked etc. Only one problem ive seen so far is one bore seems to be marked so will get that checked to see if it can be sorted if not i will have to see if i can source another set of crank cases (Geoff you got any?)

Re: Project track dog! Getting less doggy!
Looks like the mark on the bore is too deep to hone out so i can either buy a set of ABBB crank cases with good bores and swap all the good internals into them or whip out my engine thats in the frame at the moment and re-furb that.
While deciding ive also been thinking of trying to keep the temp down on the bike, obviousley the best option is bigger rads but ive not alot of spare funds at the mo so thought i would try an electric water pump. My mate uses them on all his race bikes with good results over standard so when i saw Tony's for sale i had to have it.

Know the blue hoses wont do much but i thought sod it and bought them anyway

Cheers. Ive since bought yet another couple of motors one being a UK one with the oil cooler outlets for me to help with cooling etc. This is stripped at the mo and in the middle of plastigauging the crank etc to see if all is well. Ive also had the rvf pistons aqua blasted so they look like new and ready to go.
