folks, bit of advice, you may just use the first part of your postcode. then you're not advertising the exact location of your bike. My postcode is only 10 properties, wouldn't take much working out!

I fully agree with Phil that either the nearest big town name or start of a post code should be used. Even when given a full postcode I tend to be a little less acurate when placing markers on the map (for exactly the reasons phil has mentioned and dont include anything more than a town under anyones details).

The idea of the map was to let members see if there were other fellow 400GB-ers in their area either for getting together for ride outs, at bike meets or even possibly offering practical advice maybe even helping out with the spanners sometimes for those new to the 400 world. If you spot someone nearby that you wanted to get in touch with you can then get the name from the map and contact them through the PM system on the site, only then getting into the nitty gritty of exactly where you live and where your pride and joy is kept.

If you have put full details of your address/post code on the thread feel free to go back and dum them down if you want to - it won't affect the map. Maybe a little bit paranoid, but it may just stop sombodys bike getting knicked
