Re: Billing's Bikes
If you really wouldn't mind sending me an opening one I'd really appreciate it mate, the muppet has snapped it out of the metal holder at the grip end, and tried to fix it with electrical tape
I've bought some NC30 fork bottoms for the CBR, I'm going to give it a cheap brake upgrade using the old NC30 calipers I have in the shed :D
Looking at buying a rolling chassis, and fitting a CBR6 engine (cheers for the link to that one you texted me btw Colin, trying to arrange it being collected by a courier or something as it's 220 miles away
) but it's not going to stay a standard CBR4/600 for long, I'm thinking of something beginning with G, and ending with T25

Ha, ha! Nice, i like it - all you need is a few PSi and you'd have created a monster!
PM me your address again & i'll get them in the post tomorrow - i dont know which 1 is which, so if i send them both, you'll have it.

Re: Billing's Bikes
It'll be a slow process (thinking of doing it over 2 years just to spread the cost out a bit and do it right)
I'm on the look out for a rolling chassis to start with, I'll strip it down and rebuild it with any new bearings it may need. Then I can build it up as a 6/400 at first, then after that work out how to turbo it. Aiming for about 100-110bhp at the crank when it's done, and will hopefully achieve about 160mph top end

Re: Billing's Bikes
I swear I'm going to stab the muppet who's worked on this bike before much longer. The red cap for the main 30a fuse is melted and stuck to the lower part, and has been chewed up badly, so that needs replacing
The alarm has finally given up the ghost, it won't unarm, even with a full battery, hence me starting to remove it, and finding the buggered up cap

Seriously Sam, change the loom, its so much easier, quicker & less of a headache, everytime i get a bike thats had some shite alarm on, i budget £25 for a clean replacement loom, bollox to repairing it as the repaired areas will cause problems later unless its done spot on.
& by the way, throttle cables are in the post.

Re: Billing's Bikes
Brilliant, really appreciate it mate
I was thinking of getting a new loom, but I can solder fairly well, so was going to attempt it for now, I'll shrink wrap it aswell just to make sure it's nice and tidy, but will also budget for a replacement loom in the future.
I can't get my phone camera repaired by Vodafone, so am trying to borrow one to get you a piture of the exhaust, apart from the collars it's in good condition, I should be able to get you a pic or 2 tonight after tea if you're still interested :)

Re: Billing's Bikes
Had some problems with the CBR, it's battery has gone flat on me a couple of times in the last week, even after fully charging it, so I checked the (uprated) regulator, and between it and the frame there was a load of corrosion of some sort, it looked like some kind of salt type deposit? I've cleared it all off and nicked the boggo reg/rec from the NC30 so I can still use it, and will order a pair of new ones when money isn't quite so tight (half may wages gone in less than a week!) and hope the non-finned one doesn't give up on me.
The new indicators have been fitted to the VFR, I used the hole for the rubber grommet/wiring as it's further back, and higher up, and they clear without issue :D I have however realised there were no can strap spacers included so they're a bit loose
DM!!!! can I pinch the measurements of yours to get some made up please?
My replacement lower panel has arrived, and aside from a small crack at the top above the A in Honda it's in fantastic condition :) I should be fixing the few cuts in the wiring I had to make to get the alarm out tomorrow, aswell as getting the carbs out for rejetting (been saying for ages I'll do it, but home life keeps getting in the way atm)
The CBR will soon be rocking it's own wheels with unwarped discs and new bearings, this month I intend to do the brake upgrade on the CBR, and finally get the VFR MOT'd, ready for april and the good weather :D

Re: Billing's Bikes
Oh i know about life buggering things up & getting in the way.
My No5 bike is driving me crazy, its just a set of painted panels away from being finished & now the DVLA want to inspect it!
So ive got to go the the london office next week, so i can finally get the V5 (well hopefully) I think im going to actually kill the muppet i brought the bike from.
Anyway, i hope your throttle cable issue is now solved, ive been told that a good rec / reg to use is an R6 unit - i use a Sun version of the original, has been really good as my last 1 got chose to get really hot & burned the loom out as well as its-self.

Re: Billing's Bikes
I've asked that guy about i.d'ing your frame, he says it's worth a shot to see if it's on a database somewhere. If not maybe one of the guys at HOC can get it dated for you, it should be easy to find out what model it is, and therefore a rough date of manufacture, but that won't be good enough for our dear DVLA
The VFR is now looking very sorry for itself, I've got the carbs out and am currently rejetting and replacing the cheese screws with a stainless allen screw kit from RO.
to Rick O btw, sorted my parts out really quickly, had them the day after posting, very impressed :)
