So, needing the help of more mechanically minded people when you finally cave in runs in the family?

I completely agree with Ricky, Steve (Thunderace) has offered to fix it for the cost of parts and the cost of getting your bike to him and back to you will be a hell of a lot less than the cost of a garage doing the work for you. In Steve you've got someone who lives and breathes these bikes and knows them. You won't get that from many garages and they will charge a fortune in labour.if you can get a garage to fix your bike and charge you less than 5 hours labour, go to a garage. If, as I suspect, your bike needs a complete overhaul to make safe, the best thing for you and your family is to get the bike to Steve.
I wish I could do half the things people on here and some of my friends could do, but I can't, so I get things done by others. It doesn't make you any less of a man and I give you full credit for trying and learning things on the way. Think about how much happier your friends and family will be knowing you will be riding around on something safe and not potentially being a danger to yourself and others.
If the cost of getting your bike to Steve is an issue, think about the cost of your safety.
I will give you £1 towards getting it to Steve and I'll do the same to Steve once he has it. It isn't a lot, but looking at the amount of replies on this thread, if everyone else gave £1 to each of you for this, your bike will be going to Steve and he'll get something out of it as well for all his hard work.

you dont have to read 102 pages of crap, you only have to read what i wrote above... i dont think you know that this thread cover a lot of problems, not just one massive problem mate, read the above, watch the vid and answer the question. otherwise dont make the thread any longer.

I've only ever heard that noise, when there are no plugs in an engine but the "plopping" that goes with it, is missing, its like the ring gear isn't connected to the starter motor (in the clutch side casing)
