Re: The Exhaust Thread
Ethos systems are lovely..Smitizen wrote:Hey just wondering what the general consensus is on a full Ethos system for an RVF400?
I've someone that wants to swap my standard system for their Ethos for $550 only(It's an importer that just wants a standard sytem for complaince and sales)?
So how's it's power, sound and how much are these full systems worth?
CHEERS!
No idea how much money $550 is in "real" money - i.e the Queen's Sterling
But a new Ethos would be around £500 anyways..
I'd do it

Converted it's about 260 pounds.
I'm gonna weigh it all up tonight casue all i originally wanted was a can BUT this is a full system for a fraction more than just a can.
Hhhhmmmm. It's got a carbon can with it also.
Is there a site for Ethos gear? I can't seem to find anything...

Re: The Exhaust Thread
Have a look for the systems we have had on here. A half system is much more worth it than a can. It will be lot lighter and will not rust at the collars under the sump.
£260 part exchange for a decent std system is a touch harsh...If it is a very good condition then I;d go for it..

Re: The Exhaust Thread
A half/full system also gives a significant power/torque increase in the middle of the rev range (top end gains are negligable IMO), it makes for much improved rideability on these engines.CMSMJ1 wrote:Have a look for the systems we have had on here. No idea on these costs, but push for them to install it on your bike also!CMSMJ1 wrote: £260 part exchange for a decent std system is a touch harsh...If it is a very good condition then I;d go for it..

Re: The Exhaust Thread
Right, I'm doing something exceptionally silly, and am selling my mintVFR so I can use those funds to buy a mintRVF.
But since I've fallen in love with the full Two Brothers system on the mintVFR, I will need to replace the stock system on the NC35 asap.
I'm thinking with a Tyga twin-stack exhaust system, except fitted with a pair of Moto Maggots. Simply because I love the look of those stubby cans.
However, I do want to know first, just how epicly loud this will be. If I get a WOF (Essentially NZ's version of a MOT) with my local mechanic, will he be able to edge me through even if it's clearly somewhat above the 97dB limit? Or is it *so* much louder that he won't be able to be cheeky adnd pass me, and I'll need to fit some baffles/swap on some other mufflers just to get the WOF?

Re: The Exhaust Thread
Yes it will be loud, like painfully loud as mark says. My system is apparantly 101 and thats just about right, the old one that mark now has was about 105 when he had it tested at a track ( i may be remembering wrong) that used to make the walls vibrate in the garage and was getting close in volume to when my mate ran his zxr with no can at all. Might look quite good though

Re: The Exhaust Thread
Interesting choice. but IMO way too loud. You will need pain killers after a while
I fitted 2 TSR carbon cans without any baffles on my NC35 last year...and these were way over +102Db!
No fun if you ask me
and not very social....blooody hell! Since then I've changed it into 2 custom made
titanium cans with road legal baffles in each. Now under 97dB, and still fantastic sounds and a lot more
pleasure riding the bike.
Love to see the outcome if you do go for it
PS: Ethos can be found here:

Tyga Pipe-Work:

By the way, The above set up is 101DB with no baffles, and with the Tyga Oval Stainless Can its 107...Needless to say, the Scorpion is my road can with its baffle in place
