I actually cant beleive this is still rolling on. I will attempt to give you some advice, listen to it if you want but i doubt you will.

For the same as a couple of months worth of payments on an R6 you could have a working nc30 that you can sell or keep.

Think logically, getting in a load of debt and paying a lot for insurance that wont even cover you should you crash it - and you have crashed before - its not worth it. A 4k loan and bits of a broken R6 is arguably a hell of a lot worse position to be in than a heap of an nc30 that has issues but you owe next to nothing on.

For f sake, just send the bike to the garage who found the fox piss in the carbs and get it fixed so you can at least use the damn thing, then try and sell it - other wise, your only ever going to get pennies, cause lets be clear about this - THATS ALL ITS WORTH in the state its in now. If you can get more than £400 for it, take it.

We all live and learn, get this sorted properly then fcuk it off - its bad luck for you.

If you can find a dealer who will actually give you real money for it (not money off an overpriced bike) bit his frickin hand off.

can you tell i am fed up of reading advice after advice with no end to the same old problems?

Ok lets be honest about this, your bike is tatty so even with all the problems fixed your looking at a grand tops, take into account the bodywork and id say your get around £750. And thats assuming you get everything fixed, i for one wouldnt touch it with a barge pole after some of the goings on with it. Id put money on it even the place that offered you £1200 for it will take one look at it and withdraw the offer. Your in a rut, paid over the odds for a fucked bike, spent even more money on it and have a bike worth half what you paid for it.

That's like buying a meal, eating it, shitting it out, and then expecting to be able to sell it on for the same amount as you paid for it.

^^ This.

The value in an old motorbike is that it runs perfectly and has a long MOT - for that, you can get £500
In a desirable classic, like the NC30 - the value is in it looking fresh, working well and not being abused -

My bike is mechanically spot on - has all kinds of expensive stuff going on - full system, gsxr genny, blade brakes, alloy this and that - it is bob on - but as it looks rough I reckon I could only sell it for £1500

A new R6 would be cool* - but not for winter and not on finance either without getting fully comp insurance (which I would expect to be mandated in the finance agreement)

*it would not - they are gash as road bikes. Get an old YZF750..they rule

:plus:

nail on the head,

Mechanically if i can get the chassis running and brakes etc all working as well as they should in the limited time we would have (unless extending the hotel cost to extra nights as required), your best bet is then to chance it at selling it on the condition i leave it in.

your other option is sell/swap your fairings and buy something a little more original and sell the bike with the stock/oem look which will atract more buyers,

as i said before im more than happy to come up and help you sort this, atleast youll be given personal piece of mind, youll ride it properly, hell you might fall in love with it, and when you sell it youll be able to sleep at night knowing its been sorted. i know the 30s pretty well now, 2 and a half years of owning one, full strip down and rebuild except the engine, electrical/mechanical engineer by trade, and been working around bike since i was kid, first rode at 7yrs and since have riden and owned a few bikes.

have all the tools except spring compressors and castleated nuts for the swingarms clutch etc.

but i have pretty everything covered.

you are going to flog a dead horse otherwise, this is the one stop shop for 400 owners, the next person that owns your bike will no doubt come on here, and think god what have i bought.

and just to add if you lie about what your selling when someone does by it off you they know where you live.
If your honest then that isnt a problem but... just something to bear in mind.

Geez I wish I had the cash to fly over and sort this bike. Seriously, that would be a satisfying trip.

Perhaps we should start a collection lol!?

Yep. All finance companies have a clause to say that you must insure fully comp for the term of the agreement.

So Ersan, you're looking at another £3k in insurance then.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.
