Was the wrong routing of the cables the cause of the throttle sticking? If not what was and what did you do to fix it?
What was the prob with the starter and what did you do to fix it?

im not sure what the problem with he starter was... i bought a second hand one from ebay and installed it. and now its not jamming. the throttle cable was routed behind the steering stem.. and was getting crushed by the bottom yoke whenever i turned the steering, so i just sort of pulled it out of there and it was fine. i sprayed some WD40 inside the throttle tube and now its smooth and not sticking, but i should really dismantle that and properly grease it up.

First and foremost. Get out your workshop manuel and make sure your throttle cables are routed correctly.
If they are not - then all you have done is masked the problem for now.

If you think they are ok - check them again.

Also if wd40 stopped your throttle sticking, you might want to check that your grips are not over hanging the throttle tube and catching the bar/barend weights.

wow, since i have been a member on here i have never seen someone get slammed as much as this guy.
To be honest its each to there own, not my taste but if he likes it then thats his choice.
Obviously going to get people not liking it, but i thought this site was a place for bikers to get together and have a good laugh and comment on what would make someones bike look a bit better and giving advice, instead of slamming them on there first efforts of trying something different.

Leave the poor lad alone lol he has done a good enough job for his first time, maybe now he knows what he is doing next time he will know what to look out for and how its meant to be.

Not really the best way to make someone feel welcome to be on the site.

Ive been a bit tough, but i havent been harsh. My only issues i have is being hap hazard on personal safety and of others, despite his bike being tangoed it doesnt look to bad ive seen worse paint jobs.

I think I spotted you by the river yesterday at about 4.15-30pm? I saw the garish orange and thought there was a KTM floating about, but then noticed the Silhouette nose.

It didn't look like the bike was about to fall apart.

hehe yeah it was me, was going home from work. were you on your bike as well?

and yeah the bikes almost perfect just issues with the rear set, waiting on my new ones to arrive

I kind of feel sorry for this guy. Not everyone is a perfectionist or has an eye for detail. As a tool maker I always work to the saying "check it twice, make it once" but I maybe much older (39) and have learned patience.

For instance my bike (still changing collector and few bits) is not original (done in cbr scheme for some reason???). Its been done at great care by the last owner. I like it hence buying it but many may not but do I give a fcuk? No. It's me that rides it as sees it every time I open my garage. The only thing is, its been done properly and was not rushed.

I like constructive criticism so hear what I have to say to help you out for next time. Yes the line angles are def out to each other 100%. Its does not matter what angles and contours fairings have, a parallel line is a parallel line. Next time mark it up using the correct sprayers line marking tape and take photos of it to look over before painting. Adjust a hundred times, it doesn’t matter as long as its right with itself and the other side before you spray. I got the impression you were rushing the job just to fire up photos on here as fast as you could so people could drool over but we would have waited longer for a better finished product. None of us are going anywhere. Imagine if everyone said wow, that’s the dogs ect instead of oh mate you ruined it. Slow down and look more matey.

If you say it was your first paint job then I suspect you will one day wish to do it again to prove to yourself (this or another bike) you can learn from it and get it right so invest in an oil free air compressor, a good spray gun and some proper paint. You'll have much better finish, tougher (those rattle can jobs will scratch like a bitch so easily) and the satisfaction you'll get from using all your new gear will be great. Compressors are dam cheap these days. Just make sure its oil free!
