You say that it revs alright in neutral, but breaks up when under load? Are you running a standard airbox set-up (including snorkel, rubber flaps, etc.). Have you had the carbs apart and checked that they are as they should be? That's where I'd start.
Like the great movie of '08: 'Don't Mess with the Airbox'. Or was it 'Zohan' - not sure.
Where are you doing your trackday?

Can someone please clarify this? I always thought it was the orange/blue and black/white wires the resistor needs to go between, as per a drawing I saw here once or twice?Martin wrote:Get a 2.5k resistor and solder it between the orange/blue and green wires (clock end of the loom) like in this wiring diagram. It should solve the problem.

bike has no air box, has the velocity stacks cut down
to be honest if i were to have a look at the carbies i wouldnt really know what i was looking at anyway
hopefully it is just this speedo thing, which i will be fixing today fingers crossed
track day is at eastern creek

The resistor needs to be bridged between the orange/blue and any 12v power on source. The black/white wire at the cdi end is one source.NC35 wrote:Can someone please clarify this? Check the wires for a 12v source with a multimeter if unsure.
@ Davis: Let me know how you get on, I should be able to help you over the phone if you get really stuck.

Re: need some desperate help VFR400 track bike
ok, so i got a 2.4k ohm resistor and bridged it between the orange/blue and a green wire, i didnt check to see if it had 12v
but the dam thing still isnt running right. the cut is definately at 5500 revs, that is as clear as day now, yesterday with no bridge there seamed to be no engine breaking, now after the bridge between the orange/blue and green there is a lot more.
i will go check the voltage now
could it be anything else?
the bike runs well below 5500 and shit after, surely its cot to be this limp home mode thing?
any help
