Thanks, I'll try all the marbles, rocks, nuts, bolts, and chains, do a little tumbling and cleaning and see how bad the rust is inside. I haven't really had time to look at the tank, just on the first day. I'll wait and see how the frame cleans up before deciding on powder coating. The bike is 100% and complete, just alot of corrosion to the aluminum and stainless steel, but that all usually cleans up nice. Right exhaust heat shield and shock heat shield are pitted with rust. Top clamp and fork lowers are pitted, chain was rusted up and binding, left fork seal leaking. Basically someone just abused the poor bike by letting it sit for a very long time. Criminal offense in my books. I bought the bike from an importer here in Florida, his name is Ozzie Saez, website is cycleimportersfl.com, he's been in the business for 10 -15 years, he also exports bikes, he has some really nice stuff, check him out. I got a brand new race can, brand unknown, had a Japanese sticker on it, I'll get a pic later, maybe someone can tell me the brand. Here's a few more pics.

There is a sticker on the front fairing, I believe it is a Japanese trackday tech inspection sticker. ANyone translate?



Bought a load of parts on E-Bay from a guy in California, head gaskets, rocker cover gaskets, fork seals, thermostats, temp sending unit, T-stat cover, spare wiring loom, spare coils, exhaust gaskets, and a bunch of other bolts, nuts, hoses, and gaskets, all Honda OEM stuff in original packaging.

Dropped the motor by myself, didn;t have any help that day. Dropped it down on the lift, strapped it down, and then grabbed the bike in the front by the forks and lifted it up and over the motor, not pretty but it worked.

Engine looks beautiful... please give me more details on how you got it to look like that. What wire wheel did you use?

I just used about 3-4 different sized wire wheels, fine not coarse, on an electric hand drill. Just lightly removed all the surface corrosion. A little hard to get every little crack and crevice. I'm going to go back and use some cleaner/polish and a 3M pad to finish it off. I've seen some other Honda V-4's that have had a brown/gray anodized color to them. Anyone know the difference and which models had which?

Nice work man, keep the pics flowing as I love watching the progress of these big projects. As was said earlier if the frame cleans up ok keep it standard. Just keep the faith as nothing is beyond looking better than new again, mine was a proper mess when I bought it (...and I might even finish it this year ).
On the question of engine colour the NC30's and VFR 750/800 tended to be the darker colours whilst as far as I know NC35 motors were always silver. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. :)

Sorry for all the questions, but do you know if the brushes were Stainless Steel or Nylon? I think i'll go over to Sears to take a look around for what they have. If you have a pic of the brushes that would be awesome.

Oh and on the heat shields, mine have a little pitting/rust too- I was thinking about just have them sanded down and repolished.

I agree w/ the others though- the frame looks cherry so I wouldn't PC it. The little pieces are frame but I love the aluminum look.
