I will ask at my local honda place for the head gaskets they have been really good in having and sourcing parts for my NC24 all oe stuff to if not what are you thinking new engine?

Cant wait to ride it thought the last bike i ridden in anger was my old rgv250 and a quick blast up and down some local country lanes on a mates R1 that was silly.

That would be great if you could, im looking into if the NC30 head gaskets would fit, or the other option is iv found a bloke that sells the correct head gasket material so just cut some out

Thats funny, my last bike (well properly on the road!) was P reg rgv250, lovely bike, only thing that use to get to me was the bad fuel consumption and the expense to run the bike, mind you, i was always smiling when riding it! :D

Update time:

Work on the bike has been really slow of late so havent had alot of time to do much.

Things i have done recently are removed front calipers and gave them a good clean (boiled em in lemon juice) removed the pistons and now just waiting for a rebuild kit.

Loosen engine mounting bolts after purchasing some bolt extractors to remove the rounded off bolts

Possibly the best money i have spent on tools for quite some time, really made the job easy.

Disconected all wires and pipes from the engine ready for engine removal. Now all i have to do is remove the chain and also the clutch stuff and out comes the engine hopefully. Although this is easier said than done as im now stuck at this point.

Apart from that i have just been cleaning and buying parts.

Also collector pipe has arrived £60 delivered off ebay check it out.

Alot more to come soon once engine is out

RGV250's are awesome... i'm considering THIS ONE as a possiblity...

I don't think you'll be able to just cut some out. i'm pretty sure the Headgaskets are multi-layer metal reinforced.

You can make sump / alternator cover gaskets etc out of standard gasket material (i do most of the time)

Collector looks good! don't loose that clamp for the silencer. There discontiniued long time back. I found them harder to get than the collectorbox.

That is one very nice rgv i had an early one, blue and white mental machine, wish i still had it I loved that bike. Is the VFR much quicker? Still havent ridden mine.

Silencer clamps are available from fowlers of Bristol, when i checked about a month ago.

Head gaskets will have to be made of the proper materials, although like you say you can make some gaskets like for sump plug's, thermostats etc. Their are lots of companies on the net that will be able to make a propper gasket from the propper materials they will probably just need you to send them the old one so that they can use it as a template.

Think the RGV is slightly quicker due to the weight, and i really wish you hadn't shown me that one, I WANT IT!

I can get multi layer head gasket material not problem, the nc30 head gaskets look as though they will fit (not a great picture i have of them) they just have a small extra bit that stick's out the front.

Steve, very good collector and for that money! I also looked at that chemical sealant stuff, only problem is turns out mine has a cracked cylinder head (quite bad too) Theres a picture of it in the workshop section.

Just noticed in your other post that you have a spare.

If your after gaskets, best gaskets ive found is a tube of clear bathroom sealer, mastic. Brilliant stuff.

Oil proof, heat proof, water proof, petrol proof and above all about £5 a tube and one tube will do hundreds of gaskets if you seal the tube up afterwards (i screw a wood screw in to the end).

The only gasket I don't use it for is headgaskets and O ring style gaskets, but everything else goes!

It sealed my RS50, RS125, RS250, VFR400, ZX12, Fiat Uno, Toyota Supra, Xsara Picasso and even the thermostat housing on my fathers Cebera.

If I hear people saying, its crap and leaks, you aint doing it right as Ive not had them fail yet!
