Update!

The 'ebay special' track bike turned out to have a bent bottom triple clamp (couldn't get the steering aligned with the wheel).

Whipped the yokes off and installed a spare:

...and this is how it looked when taken for its RWC (MOT):

It looks... err.. like an NC29.5 :o

The top fairing that I have planned for it wouldn't have passed the MOT so I threw on a the NC29 top fairing that I had sitting around. I have some other parts waiting to go on also.

Budget bike build back on track, will post more pics as it progresses over the next month.

So on with it...MOT passed and time to get stuck into the bike.

SP1 calipers and Rick O adapter plates (with 600rr master cylinder), tyga guard, painted discs:

Upper cowl in primer/filler ready to be sanded back for spraying tomorrow:

Next on the list of things to do is to clean the rear end up: clear brake light lens (CBR250/400), led lights and indicators:

The light output of these replacement led fittings is good, better than standard filament globes and much better response. I only brought them in the hope that they're more reliable than filament globes.

Dang, that front fairing looks hot in primer (and I know that it took some work to clean-up - good job)! Looking really good! Can't wait to see it fully dressed

I also have a brand new 14mm master cylinder to go on, but I've got a feeling that the racebike will kick up a stink and demand this part so the roadie might have to miss out...

Still on the to-do list:

- Powdercoat spare front wheel and 18" rear wheel (has 17" fitted in pics, ruins the look IMO) in stark white
- Mod the shock link to raise the rear
- Fit a set of braided brake lines I have lying around
- Waiting on some decals to apply
- Fit crash knobs

And on the probably-never-get-there-but-want-to-do list:

- Add some electronics to the dash to get the indicator light to work with the led indicators (so I remeber to turn them - bloody Sunday riders!)
- Weld together custom alloy subframe to fit a honda RSW250 seat unit
- Get the half-system high temp coated in grey (for something a bit different)

Nearly done - on a tight budget!

That is looking sweet! Those tail lights really suit it!

I was going to point out that there are some gaping big holes in the fairing, but looks like you'll get that sorted.

White wheels? Please make them white! But black would work too.

By the way, nice horn location

Yeah I like the tail lights too. I only did it because I had some cbr400 light sitting around and I had to cut the rear fairing for whatever lights I chose anyway. I like the nsr type look of them - and a bonus you can get clear lenses for the cbr lights!

Yep, white wheels. I personally think black would look better, but nothing like showing off that single sider like white wheels! Can't wait to get an 18" on there, the 17" looks too small and these bikes are all about showing off the single sider aren't they!?

Err the horn... I mounted it there so that I can get the headstock stand under at any time. I think I'll remove the horn altogether....

Update: Fitted brooky's decals (spot on as always!), some crash knobs and more work gone on.

Bad (phone) pics sorry.

My first road ride for probably 4 years or so, all going well in some shakedown runs (very noisy runs around the block!). Went for a couple of 100km rides, and the bike suddenly died. :(

T'was a dodgy reg/rect. Stay away from honda regulators kiddies! Some crispy components in the cdi, Yamaha reg/rect already fitted since this pic....
