iv maneged to got one going, used a hole bottle of brake cleaner on her and loads of elbow and rubber grease, basicaly kept pushing the pots in.....then out, clean with 1200 wet n dry, then clean, then red grease again and over and over and over lol, would have deffinatly been quicker to pop them out but i dont want to wait days for seals. maneged to get that caliper working fine now, all 4 pots were pumping out, not all at same time but once they hit the disc, the force pushed on that will make the stiffer ones work. will do till i refurb them anyways.......good news, the other caliper isnt as bad!! all pots look quite decent, just a shame about the caliper facing the wrong way when fitted coz i maneged to get the nissan side all shiney but the more fiddely side is harder to clean for sure!! lol

when i rebuilt my rear caliper i used silvo polish ( little tin with cotton wool soaked in the polish used to clean silver and stuff) not abrasive at all and cleaned the pistons to a mirror finish silky smooth , not had any probs at all

what a fiddly job....

I always replace all the seals when im cleaning the calipers.. saves doing the job twice.

You can reuse them if there not swelled up enough to not fit back in the holes or damaged.

if youve gone to the trouble of cleaning up / removing the calipers fluid though I always change them and do the job once but properly.

would have loved too tbh but buying 8 sets of seal for the calipers would be somin like 50-80 quid from what iv found, i ended up (but with a real nightmare) cleaning the pistons in the caliper, pushed them out as much as i dared and wet n dryed them to a mirror finish, red rubber greased them and pushed them back in and out till they freed up. was a twat tbh and deffo easier just to pop out n fit new seals, but as long as there not leaking or seized to bad, this is an alternative and money saver.

i expect ill split the calipers in the future anyways and fit new pots n seals, just for good messure, when funds are there.

IMO if youve got a problem with the brakes, pistons out, clean them and the bores and replace with new seals.
If what youve done works fairplay but look at it as a short term fix if your keeping your bike.
