Troubleshooting non-starting CBR400RR

Uhh shouldn't the vacuum hose bits be blocked off? Haven't checked my nc23 but the nc30 they are usually blanked off with a screw. No screw = ++ air into cylinders...

Yep, the screw's head can be seen in the picture, but I have no idea how it popped out as I luckily saw it fly out.

I don't see the screw head in the picture? Do all the small bits of vacuum tube all have screws in the end? Does seem odd given it sucks as throttle opens?

Might be confusing it with the other CBR models as mine is a NC29 1990 (L) so they look like the below:

On my previous nc29 the rubber bits for the vacuum hoses were missing and the previous owner had used screws instead.

As for the fuel/air screws new o-rings and the correct settings should sort out the problems you have ( I had the same happen to mine and it was a bigger to trace)

By any chance do you know of any websites which supply such parts? As unfortunately if I order them straight from the local Honda dealer they have at least 3 weeks for the parts to arrive.

Also I've been looking at my ignition HT coils and they seem to be in their incorrect positions according to this post: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=12238

The RHS front wire also seems to be inserted upside down?

Hi, for your blanking caps (black rubber bits), you will need 4, part number is 16215MV4000 and you will need 4 circlips to keep them on, part number 9500202070. Of course you should have the brass part these fit on already, screwed on the cylinder head, but if not here is the part number, 16214MB0000. Try Graeme France Racing, David Silver or Lings as a start but you will most likely wait for most items you have to order, thats the way it is on old bikes.

Sounds like your carbs need pulling to bits and cleaning, if so you might as well renew any seals, a good place to find a gasket kit is in the Approved Traders section on this forum from LiteTekBlair.

As I think mentioned above look at the rubbers that hold your carbs for any splits or leak but dont be tempted to get the cheap Chinese ones, I couldnt get them to fit. So go for proper Honda ones.

Thanks for the reply Dave, what do you think regarding the ignition diagrams in my above post, as I suspect they're incorrect as well.

Edit: Just seen the link, and if I understood the diagram right:
RHS Front: 3
RHS Rear: 2
LHS Rear: 4
LHS Front: 1

Am I correct?

I cant be sure with your electrics but will take my tank off a bit later when i clean it and take a couple of pictures.

left coil, short cyl1, long cyl4................ right coil, short cyl3, long cyl2

That would be greatly appreciated, and my coils are definitely in the wrong positions
