NC35 - improved headlights wanted.

Agree it's a good solution but the idea of someone making them up for sale on the forum is only for the brave going by past group buy experiences etc well meaning folk have tried for the better good of all only to be let down by folk saying they want one then going into hiding mode when the supplier comes up with the goods . or that car wanker bike racing dude who took money from many and failed again on the goods.

Rather than hacking up the stock harness and because my soldering skills are sub-par I opted to go with a guy who made one that's plug and play.

With this I run 60/55 without fear of my headlight switch getting f'd again. You can run a single LED and maybe both assuming they're quality LED lights w/out the relay upgrade/mod. I ran a single HID for about 2 years without issue. When I tried to run 2 I ran into issues with it overloading my headlight switch. At that point I didn't want to run a single HID anymore, so got the relay/box online.

What a properly good idea that is! It'd be straight forwards to make that kit up - but kudos to the guy thinking about marketing them!

Out of interest - how much do they cost? Just wondering if it is worth our while on this forum to make a similar kit (on demand) for people.

In fact think such sales are barred under forum rules now unless moderators say otherwise ?

Thanks for website link, I'm in touch with them, out of stock at the moment, but plug&play looks the best option for me.
If I can't get one, then I'll have a go at making my own,Neo.
Whichever route, you seem unanimous in recommending the same solution, so I'll just have to crack on with it.
If I manage to purchase the plug and play i will post progress and let you know how I get on.

If you get no joy in getting one - let us know. I'm sure that someone on here could make you one. I could - no problems. It wouldn't have the extra features that the one above does (flash for parking lights etc) but aside from that it is straightforward.

I think they were around $95 (USD). The guy (Tony) is in AUS, but ships quickly when he has them in stock. His kit isn't just a simple relay, but a little module, that can be programmed to do a lot of various things (e.g. keep lights off until 'x' amount of seconds after ignition is switched on, only put 'x' amount of power to low bulb) that may be useful to some (not really to me). I like it because it's a simple, clean way of dealing with the issue of not having a relay w/out having to hack into the OEM harness. If you're not opposed to hacking into the OEM harness then wiring up your own relay is the easiest way of doing it.

I guess what I'd do is if someone wanted one, I'd make it, take no money and then if they wanted to buy it after I made it - then fair enough. If not, I'd keep it and stick it on ebay or something.

Or just donate all profit to the forum.

Couldn't be any fairer than what your intending doing could be a popular seller for you with the high cost of h4r bulbs and the improvement decent h4 give if you have the time to make a small batch and do a review you may well be surprised at the demand depending on cost etc good luck

That kit is well prices for a limited run of proper made stuff, it's more than just wires. It has a potted circuit that detects lowbeam failures and automatically switches to low power high-beams to avoid dazzling people.

A simple wiring kit just to fit a relay and wire up can be made dirt cheap but the stuff is so avaiable everywhere for the limited number of people that want to do this mod its probably better they source it themselves

Yeah, I forgot it did that. It's a truly well made piece with a lot of options.

Well, I'm happy to pay the price. Still remember how horrified I was seeing someone cut into my brand new Yam FZ1S loom to fit a PCIIi. I think I decided there and then that I'm never cutting into a loom. Sure it might work, but then again it might fall apart when you least want it too.
I've saved a fortune on wire, connectors, soldering irons etc since I made that decision....
