Well the rvf has 1 less plate than the vfr which has 9 if memory serves me right so you should have 8 in there

Not according to the link posted above http://www.akhara.com/nc30/nc30clutch.html. It has one less, but VFR has 10

Not quite. More plates and you might have a problem with the clutch disengaging the transmission fully, less plates and you might not be able to disengage it at all (this happened with my Ducati. I had to add an extra "thick" steel plate to get the clutch stack height correct).

I think you have assembled it wrong somehow then. as that is the correct number for the 35.

take it all apart and try again..

have you looked at the parts book to see how it goes together?

afterall, if it came out then it has to go back in.

Thanks, I took it all apart again and it was correct. But having tighened them down once I could now get the nut on with all the plates in place!

But still not fitting, nut does not screw in enough to get to the little tab to secure it.

That nut is on about half way, and it is torqued to 85Nm. Its got about 3.17mm to go which is the thickness of one friction plate (roughly).

When your putting the plates back in are you starting with a fiber or metal plate?

fibre, there is fibre on each end as it was when I took it out.

It looks like the teeth from part number 7 are not able to go far enough in to mate on the shaft.

Then, because of that when its tightened down instead of going over the shaft, its getting stuck on and hence wont go in all they way.

Got some more friction plates, this time from Rick. Went for carbon/kevlar and all fit well. Back together now.

Last lot I got off ebay, top bloke refunded 100% without question.

The other set was too thick, these lot from Rick are only 3mm.

you mean you changed the plates from the ones you took out?

you didnt mention that to begin with... i think it would have helped a lot.

just compare the stack height with the old plates...
