I think Cleggy is saying; by counting the terminals on the pic. of the 2TK unit he is waiting for, there are less spades than his existing 3EN1 box.

Digging a bit more.....
The terminal blocks do not look like it is a plug and play swap.

And Cleggy... Yes.. the pic you put up originated from a post I contributed to many months ago.

I'm sure mine is a 2tk one,

you cant quiet make it out in this pic offa photobucket, tho it looks like it has an 8 pin plug on it! But it's deffo not restricted! i'll try an fire up me digital camera (remember them?) an see if it still on there in higher res.

The 2tk one will prob have less spades because it hasn't got the speedo sensor. Maybe?

Looking at this more;

I cannot see a 2TK unit fitting the 3EN1 harness (without harness modification)..... the plugs are incompatible.

The 2TK TCI box is physically less in width than the 3EN1 unit............ there will be a small extender bracket required to fit the 2TK box to the original 2 fixings in the 3EN1 undertray. ( or holes drilled / only one fixing utilised)

From that pic. Morespeed has supplied; that looks to be too wide for a 2TK unit ( hard to tell .... seat cross rail obscures view).

If Morespeed has a 2TK unit fitted it has ....
A 2TK harness fitted.....or....cut and shut plugs from the harness.

Here are the units to compare.... notice the label position on the boxes and how much of the plastic is showing between the box edge and label on each unit......

about 30mm of plastic showing on the 3EN1 versus about 10mm on the 2TK

I would say the unit on Morespeeds bike is the original 3EN1.

The tci unit turned up ok and yes it is as the photo that was posted by willandrip! Labeled 2tk.

So I have an original 3en1 tci with an 8+6 plug fitting & a 2tk tci with an 6+4 plug fitting! :roll: Defo not a straight swap

If anyone has a definitive answer on how this swap is done then please reply, from all the posts I've read in the past no one ever mentioned wiring alterations or plug swaps etc!!

I guess somebody needs to map the wire colours / positions on each cdi

I will dig out the 2TK on Saturday (time permitting) and note down the harness plug colours.
I have a coloured 2TK wiring diagram (unfortunately in Japanese characters) and will photo it in daylight and attempt to post it up . (no scanner )

Cleggy will have to work out his own harness codes/colours as no 3EN1 wiring diagram is available.

This is unfortunate that this has only come to light now ; after years of advice on this forum (and me included) even back to the 2005/6 archives stating that the 2TK box was a plug /play upgrade for a 3EN1.

I've been trying to get to mine to have a look, but its got two years worth of crap sat on it since it hasn't moved since my back operation an has become more of a shelf than anything!!!!!

Anyway as long as the servo motors are the same, and theres some sort of wiring diagrams available It will be easy to make a loom up to swap them, or get some plugs and just put the spades in the right holes.

I think the tci wil have two pick ups, two coils and power going to the tci unit with the 2tk upwards having the exup aswell, and the 3en1 upwards having the speed sensor (which the 2tk hasn't from what iv'e read) so it shouldn't be a world apart to do if the exup servos are the same, wiring wise.

Hell I got me klr600 to work with a c90 cdi unit!!! lol

Cheers
Ian

Harness plug colours for 2TK Tci unit;

Wiring diagram for SP 2TK ;

I would advise saving the wiring harness photo to your computer and then opening it with an editor/program that allows magnification.

The Tci unit is the first rectangular unit down the r/h side of the diagram.
