If anyone's still following this, I had the chain and sprockets replaced and a chain adjuster installed.

The movement was caused by little rocks and dirt in the hub, not allowing the clamp to secure the adjuster properly.

Just did about a 500km round trip yesterday, new chain has stretched a little, so I'll re-tighten it but it looks like problem solved :D
