We're restricted to standard shocks for racing in Aus, but I've never felt any need to spend big bucks on an aftermarket when a re-worked standard shock is MUCH more than adequate.

As above, any suspension expert could point you in the right direction. Spring weights that work well are widely known, just this and a revalve and freshen will make a huge difference.
