I've got the Nitron sport shock - extended for 17" wheel, and late model NC30 fork upgrade kit - both from Rick Oliver

The bike feels really planted and I think the upgrade was worth every penny

+1 for the RO fork kit, transformed my 89 NC30.

Secondly, only the later model NC30 shock is easily rebuildable. When its rebuilt it should be fine for track days and road riding IMO.

Thanks for the replies. I've fitted a Nitron Sport rear shock +15mm length and the RO fork upgrade kit to 0.9kg/mm. All set for Donington on the 26th.

Have you ridden it yet at all before the track day? initial impressions? obviously you'll have more to say after the track day.

I've not ridden it at all yet, I will take it up the street before the 26th but its not road legal so I cant go much further. Initial impressions are really good tbh, I'm very impressed with the change. Taking into account I previously had the later standard shock but it was old and had no gas in it whatsoever. The rear is now around 40mm higher and is the best shock I've felt. Very plush. The front now has the 0.9kg/mm springs and race fluid. Its a lot stiffer up front and feels very reactive but the damping feels great too even in the garage. The bike was bad before but now it feels like its on its toes, really has transformed a tired feeling bike into a sharp fresh bike. Cant wait to give it some beans on track. I will definitely give more feedback after 26th.

I've only raised the rear on mine about 25mm at the moment and it feels pretty good. The bottom rear corner of seat unit currently sits 860mm from the ground - stock height is around 835mm. I may try winding a little more preload on next session to see what effect it has on turn in. You will reduce static sag with the Rick Oliver fork kit, which lifts the front a little cancelling out some of the jack up effect at the rear
