Re: 150/60 or 160/60 rear tyres ?
Nonsense. a 160/60 will fit just fine on a 4.5 inch rim, in fact some models of the MC21 NSR250 which came with a 4.5 inch rear rim also came with a 160 rear tyre as standard.yeurman wrote:The standard rear rim is 4 1/2" and a 160 sits better on a 5" rim. The tyre isnt pinched and over round when using a 5" rear.
I use a 160 rear on mine with no problems and like it better for trackdays or anything with corners..and most 400 racers do also. The reason being that it offers a greater contact patch at high lean angles.
To the OP though if you are just using the bike for commuting and dont do trackdays or any spirited riding, a 150 is fine but the 160 will fit with no problems..its also a better look if you asked me..personally i wouldnt go back to a 150 unless i couldnt find a 160 but thats not likely to happen any time soon.

i agree with the comment about the dunlop gp alpha 10 rear, great grip but squared off within a 1000miles.
at the moment im running bridgestone bto14 all round.they are the standard size and work a treat.
i have used in the last 18mnths a gpr70,alpha 10 rear and then two bt014's and i will be sticking with them.

go for a 160, and perhaps try a dual compound tyre, then you have the best of both worlds :D

I have ridden with a BT014 160 at the rear, and i must say.....BT090 150 all the way!!! What a difference, so more confidence and feel, faster steering. But bear in mind that a BT014 was made for bigger bikes, so it takes a long time to warm up the tyre.
But for me, no oher tyre than de BT090! However i would like to try the Michelin 2CT in the future....Anyone who had experience with them?
