Re: fzr 3tj1 reg-rec issue
Teach me to say anything .... riding today the rev counter drops and the engine starts to cut out. I was in the right hand lane of the motorway and managed to get it the hard shoulder where we stopped.
Tried the starter and it just clicked put my hand on the alternator and it was very hot, touched the reg rec but it was just a bit warm.
Got recovered quickly though.
Ill test it all in a while

Re: fzr 3tj1 reg-rec issue
Got my little diagnostic out and did the engine off test ... Which told me the battery was discharged .. doh .... So I got another battery and some jump leads. Tested engine off and then engine running and got a result

Field open or perform reg rec tests .... so I bought a new reg rec. £50 but what's a poor lad to do.

Re: fzr 3tj1 reg-rec issue
I orderred the new reg rec on Sunday, I got it Tues and fitted it last night. Put my tester on and things seem normal.
Hopefully it didn't overheat the generator but the battery was reding 14.5v with a running engine

i'd keep an eye on the battery just in case the dead reg-rec fried it with too much Voltage,
although it sound like it died in a quick way so you may be ok, unlike mine

Yes as soon as saw the tacho drop out and the engine start to die I kinda knew what it could be so I didn't try to ride it again.

you got some warning thenEvilchicken0 wrote:Yes as soon as saw the tacho drop out and the engine start to die I kinda knew what it could be so I didn't try to ride it again.

mine decided to cook the battery, 35+ V tested from the reg-rec,
the first i new was when the battery gave up ( and i don't blame it ) re-charged it and it only held a charge for about 1/2 hr just luck it didn't melt the whole loom

they don't always let you no when they've let go

Re: fzr 3tj1 reg-rec issue
Well mine wasn't charging the battery ... so the bike was running off the charge left in it ... so we stopped.
