Yes and no.b1hrider wrote:Hi,
That's something that never crossed my mind, no doubt due to my lack of understanding on the matter. The bikes got 46k's on it, and prob been neglected so guess they're well overdue. Was definitely on my list of to do jobs for winter anyway, wanted to concentrate on getting it running right before I delved too deep, and didnt realise that they'd affect it. Is it because if one cylinder has tight clearances it'll be down on fuel?
If the clearances get too tight or too loose then the valves wont open fully to let the fuel / mixture in, or oppoisite and wont close quick enough and let fuel / air escape.

Cheers for the reply.
Yeah, understand that, but wouldn't they have to be massively different to cause such an issue? And if they caused the problem, surely the tickover be poor too? Dunno, it's a thinker!

It's the slides that have two holes, one standard, one someone has drilled in the past.

well, one of the holes on mine looks factory moulded, the other is slightly rough and looks to have been drilled, neither are countersunk.

Re: nc30 carb slides have extra hole rather than an enlarged
Has anybody else got two holes in there diaphrams ?
I wonder if that is why mine wont pick up freely when i throttle it from tickover two holes ...
Next time mine are in bits i will get a photograph, my problem the bike does not like it when i give it a handfull of throttle it misses and the spins up, also my carbs had no washer at all i have fitted one .05 mm on each but after reading this again i will be fitting another 0.5 in each to see if it improves the midrange, i think i can feel a slight difference/ improvment with the single washer in place. The bike is a standarsd uk nc30 apart fro a can.

If you still have UK spec carbs then the slides will be different to the jap spec ones, i couldnt tell you if they have 2 holes but they are noticeably different due to being metal rather than plastic

Yes they are metal my pals grey has plastic daiphrams, my bike doesn't like picking up quick when you snap the throttle i wonder if its too rich what effect does lifting the needles have i know it helps the midrange flat spot but is this at the cost of low end its spluttering a little bit below 5k after that it flys ?
I have fitted 0.5 washers there was nothing in there so i am 0.5 higher thinking of adding another to make it 1mm what will it do to the running?
