Update;part 1
The numpty motorcycle delivery man neglected to check security of the bike when loading on the trailer hence the partly fixed sceen detached taking one good and one broken fairing ear with it.The plan to keep the screen,which looked good in the sales pic and to repair the fairing for spares has been aborted.Two flush fitting indicators are salvageable,rest is scrap.
He did not get paid his full amount.



Damaged brake pedal;I have spares of these from the 1000R's.


Close up of YZF engine.


Fabricated wateripe junction (no room for this in stock location).
It is a tatty job but powdercoat may tidy it sufficiently.


Rad is good but no fan fitted-probably due to lack of space,it may not be a worry as I never do town riding.


Oil filter/water cooler combination.


Headers are good and correct nuts and studs will replace bolts.


Standard Sp 2TK front wheel.


Front end wiring is tidy which makes a nice change.


SP 2TK ally tank cover with the correct filler ring-only missing one special fixing screw which will be a right pain without a parts book to source.


Front tank fixing,minus the rubber strap.Easy sourced,a TZ 350A part circa £5 from any Yam dealer.


Original seat unit.Learnt something here.Duez fixings of the bumpad allow access to tool tray in rear subframe originally (a coin or the key can be used to turn them).On my other 2TK,Mark had to remake the seat unit as it had been butchered and the pad is fixed by bolts.I carry an Allen key to detach the complete unit to gain access.


FZR 1000R rear wheel and swinger.




Footrests packed out from frame;clearance issues with replacement swinging arm.

Part 2
Could do with a gearchange rubber.


YZF exup unit with the cover intact.Sidestand fixing is the original minus the rest of the frame rail.Both sides are missing.I intend to replace these as the engine does not appear to prevent their use.Probably previous owner attempted the street look which does not appeal.


Engine mount welded to frame,as the YZF unit is.Boy is this ugly,but it is not a bad weld and the material substantial,just unshapely.Nothing much can be done except to hide it with the new fairing.




Old damage;was going to repair this-not now the lugs and screen are on the M25.


Hydraulic clutch.Master is tidy but have a ZXR unit to match the brake master.Will use this unit to uprate one of the 1000's as the lever is span adjustable and they are not on the 1000R's.




Probably the untidiest bracket on it;pop rivited to frame.


No speedo adaptor required


2TK alloy subframe and exup servo location as original but sans tool tray.




Original exhaust hanger;pleasantly uncut too.These are hard to source.Kayla makes very good replacements though.


The bracket that supports the rear of the tank and affixes the front of the seat is always missing.Bugger with a capital B.


YZF TCI unit.


Original tank;differs from later models,extra fixing for the Genesis and 2TK tank cover on each lower side.


Tank and airbox.Was a good fit too.No spare space for the rad filler though,thats why its external to frame.




Frame alterations to fit carbs,these will be tidied up a bit I think.






Tidy electrics.

Part 3.
Fuel pump,just chucked in anywhere it fitted.This is the last owners work !


Broken filler cap;have a spare one somewhere.


Rear engine mount neatly done.


Attempt at an exhaust gasket.


Thats what I call a jaunty angle.


Fork seals shot,possibly stanchions also.


2TK shock with remote.Much better than on my other one which got an R6 upgrade,Dont know what to do here.Might just try it,but its got a bit extra weight to carry and is now 26 year old.


Adjustable pre-load caps.


L/h switchgear from YZF,must be YZF harness fitted,other side is stock 2TK,only the pull cable;no return cable was ever fitted.


Fuel filter is as big as the starter motor.
No wonder he could not get the fuel pump in neatly.


Very early engine.


Someone knew how to fit a split pin at least.


Battery box missing completely.
Genesis unit required.


Manufacturers original info decal.


No spare room here.


Tank mod;no room for a tap with that lump of an engine in it.No reserve then! Quick release couplings to be fitted here.


Who tried to use the overflow pipe from filler neck catch tray as the overflow from the rad filler to the expansion tank then.P.O.'s! don't you just luv em.?


Fuel drained was stale but free from rust.Still started first stab of button though.


530 chain and sprocket shows wear.
They would go a few thousand miles further .


A delve into the spares shelves produced these;


They were picked up for buttons 2 years ago,came in handy eventually!

Hi Bill - pretty sure I've got a genesis battery box kicking around & a rear tank/forward seat mount again from a genesis,not the all hallowed 2TK,if any use to you just let me know & I'm sure we can sort something out.
