Ok, flywheel removed for total loss. Here is what I did

so if i am reading this right , all i have to do is remove my flywheel & stator & there is no side affects other then having to recharge the battery between races ? & the benefit is the engine will rev a lot faster ?

am i missing something or is it that simple ?

Correct, it is that simple. Cost me $15 for a flywheel puller and in the lower gears it feel you have more hp, even though there ain't none.

The Haynes manual talks about making a tool to hold flywheel but I tried that and it was awkward. A rattle gun had it off in about 2 seconds.

You may want to take it easy on first outing and consider your rear suspension setup.

what battery are you running in the bike & did you get to run any full sessions before your off ? just wandering how long it would last before it starts to run flat ?

Hi, sorry for late reply. The battery is a SSB Power sport ytz5-s. Not very big.

My off the was the last race of the day. I did two qualifying sessions and four races by then. Each time I came back in I just hooked it up to the trickle charger. Over lunch break battery went back to full charge. So, no problems encountered.

I always drain my carbs after each day so the morning start takes more grunt than usual. Just to be sure I plugged the spare battery into the Anderson to help with the morning start.

Hi straya can you recall what size the bolt was that holds the fly wheel on ? just want to be sure it's not some wierd size o haven't got before i start

The one that holds it on it nothing special. You'll need an M20x1.5 bolt to use as a rotor puller though. The haynes manual said to make up a flywheel holder blah de blah, and I did, but it was useless and awkward.

A borrowed impact wrench had it off in about 2 seconds. :-)
