I had a look, but even with partial fairing off I don't get much of a glimpse of it.
All i can see is that it is still there, resting on the radiator. it is stapled to another rubber part which goes down past the two forward cyclinders. Purpose of which i can only assume is to prevent rain water coming in?
I will get back to you on the carbs.
As for performance,
1st gear reaches 55mph
2nd about 70mph
3rd to 80mph @ 11,000 to 12000rpm
Power really feels like it comes in long waves (2 second on and off) as i go up the power band.

That sounds like fuel starvation but who knows.

As Kristian_andre sais, sounds like fuel starvation.
Most likely the vacume hose collapsing at high revs. It's the little rubber hose from the fuel tap to the rear right cylinder (cylinder4). If this gets old it can collaps at high revs as the vacume is too great for it. get some new tube and try that

80 mph = 128.748 km/h (google) im thinking your bike has the original jap restriction still on it which is 119mph. not sure about the speedo but the tacho can sometimes be out of synch. maybe your speedo is as well. hence you think your going at 128mph but infact your biking is topping off at 119mph? just a thought.

This is hard to understand, maybe your drinking?
Firstly, the original Japanese speed restction is no 119mph. it is 180km/h which is 112mph.
119mph is around 190km/h.
The thread op has stated his bike is topping out at 140km/h. (about 85mph)
Clocks do vary, but not so much.
Two things come to mind.
Does the bike have a km to miles convertor on the back? (a little blue thing screwed into the speed) this would mean that your bike is reading mph even though it says km/h, so 140km/h is actually 140mph.
Had it dyno'd? You will get an indication of power and fuelling, which is a good start if you think jetting is odd.
Fuel vaccum pipe and airbox are good starts if you don't have the convertor.

Hello,
I had a look at the fuel feed ( i will double check that was the right one - can you confirm which is the 3rd cylinder?)
looks ok although there is a tube on the opposite side of the fuel switch which has a load of duct tape on it - anyone know what that links to?
seems alright, though the bike does have a converter (blue thing on the back) rather than stickers on the dials. so when i read 80 its 80mph ( i hope to god otherwise i've been going a little too slow :D) nah i mean i have traffic as a reference so can't have been
But since the bike won't even reach 180km/h i sort of assumed that could not be the problem
I'll try and get it dyno's sometime next week ideally to see whats what.
