Possibly the rectifier that's gone as well then?
Broken regulator. Most likely will have killed the battery to an extent too, after putting a new reg/rec on (do a serach for Yamaha R6 conversion, you can pick them up cheap and they are very sturdy units.)
I usually change the battery too for a new one that has had a proper bed in (fill with acid and slow charge until full)
A knackered / old / dying battery will not take charge well and stress out a reg/rec, which is often the killer for the Honda ones as they don't cope well with excess heat.
There is a chance you could have killed the ignition box with the extra voltage but before trying a new igition unit get the regulator sorted so you have the proper voltage.

Done some more research. Founf a loose black wire from the reg/rec which apparently should be connected to the red one. Did that and the voltage dropped to just over 14v.
Just need to get hold of a TCI now to see if it solves the problem.
Thanks for all the help guys. Greatly appreciated :)

Black wire? Im curious.
The stock Reg/Rec has two red wires / two green wires and 3 yellow wires?

Mine didn't even have plugs on it, was connected with connector boxes. Got a new ignition box, works perfectly now. The workshop let me test the new one before buying it so it's all good. Glad I found the reg/rec issue though, don't wanna blow another box.

That is the thread I found. The part about the black wire being connected to the red one is what got my attention. Connected the loose black one to the red on and the voltage dropped down to 14v.

Just a very late update. The reg/rec had blown yes and fried the TCI.

Hi There everyone, ive got an nc 24, im not getting any spark on my rear plug wires (lol sorry im not too clued up with technical names, im a newbie), when checking if there is any power coming from the ignition box to the rear coils i find none (theres only only power going to the two front coils wires). My question is- is the ignition box faulty or perhaps my pick ups or pulse generator on the right hand side engine cover? Ive recently taken the side engine cover off so maybe have disturbed those pickups. your help would be appreciated. thanks and kind regards

Power to the ignition coils does not come from the ignition control unit. It is fed directly from the stop/run switch. If you have power at the front coils you should have power at the rear coils unless the wiring is faulty. A wiring diagram for an NC24 would probably be of some assistance.
