Thanks Cammo, Neosophist,
Re race rules. Not sure about Oz in general, but in vic, it is all basically "you may change the wheels, but only to something from the same manufacturer". So, any Honda wheel of any type is fine. Interclub, Hertwell, Pirelli Road Race Series, and Victorian road race series are the same - so no problems there.
Re the profile. I kinda of thought as much. I had heard the 250 GP bikes had 5.5" rims with 160s on them so that seems alright. I am still mildly concerned with the words of the Bridgestone distributor describing their 160 as a motard tyre and "unpleasant profile for a 400" - so maybe skip the Bridgies then.
But ... I'll give it a go - the 165/55 Metzeler on a 5.5" rim has a round profile - not too-high humpy and not pointed. I have no experience with slicks, but if not good, then I also have a 5" rim to try, and then of course, I have an RVF 4.5" as well - I see Pirelli say their 160 Superbike slick is *designed* for a 4.5 rim. Interesting.
Also, I am expecting a brand spankers Nitron 3-way Race shock next week (hopefully) so it should be an 'interesting' few weeks. :-) bring it on.
