Re: Newbie FZR owner.
Yeah they are a bit Miami vice aren't they lol.
I'm just making a list of things to find out about this model of bike.
In the surface it has all the SP bits so nothing has been robbed from it.
The cdi I'm sure is. It's 3tj 82305-10 if anyone can confirm its the right one.
I've read that the flatsides are restricted by the airbox adapters. Is this correct? And is there something that can be done?
Also are there any restrictions on the standard exhaust system?
Cheers
Kris

Re: Newbie FZR owner.
Cheers, so it's a complete 3tj7 then which is good news. Just been flicking through the BDK website so will email them when I'm ready.
Just need to get on top of it now mechanically and sort the bodywork issues.
Thanks for your help mate.

Re: Newbie FZR owner.
whats wrong with the bodywork ibby? ive got some sp indicators but i dont want part with them really, but ive got some fairing infills spare but they will need a respray-i think yours should be white and not black and these ones are purple
i dropped mine manouvering it out of the front gate and cracked the seat unit but i got it repaired and resprayrd and it looks ok.sourcing original tj7 bodywork might be a nightmare like you say and original sp seat units are like rocking horse poo(and nosecones).is the body work tatty or just in need of a tidy.

Re: Newbie FZR owner.
One of the previous owners dropped it cracking the Nosecone by the mirrors on both sides, left side is missing about 3 inches right side about an inch, another crack near the headlight.
The seat unit is bad and has been glued together but it would be in bits.
I think the infills should be in black (could be wrong) that again has a crack around the screw.
To be honest it's probably all repairable but I would lose the original decals which I'm guessing aren't available either.

Re: Newbie FZR owner.
you would be surprised at what is still available new.its worth ringing fowlers of bristol or granby yamaha theyve both surprised me at what is still available.ive rang for stuff that i thought would never still be in stock or orderable from japan and alot is still getable.failing that there are some exellent places that can reproduce original decals to the exact size and colour.ive got the part numbers for the 3tj7 decals but i cant copy and paste them to the forum or seem to attach them to an e-mail-ill see what i can do.do not lose the little bobbins that hold on the single seat unit.they are completly unavailable and the same part that holds the seat on the owo1- i know this to my cost as i lost one and they are rarer than a rare thing to get hold of but i know of someone who may be making a batch for some owo1,s

Re: Newbie FZR owner.
Well if you can get me the part numbers for the seatunit and Nosecone decals that would be great.
And if they are available I will fall over!
The guy I bought it off did say that you could still get a full decal kit from Yamaha. Fingers crossed.
