I don't understand your first question.
The engine is ready to go, all put back together except the gears are hard/ almost impossible to change.

Is it correct that (8) goes on after the set plate or before?

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH. PROBLEM SOLVED!.
Middle spindle bit needed to be worked in to the plate.
Hope this thread helps someone that gets themselves in to this situation.

20.17c and tighten the bolt.. how far lol. because i tighten it right up and the gear lever doesnt want to move at all.

do you have the service manuals and have you read them?

Read the service manual. They were brief on the gear shift linkage.
Was wondering where you got those pictures from magg? & if you could upload the whole gearshift linkage section?

Thought id be genuine and share the solution.
First of all thank you magg for putting out the actually use of the guide plate.
Second the reason why it was hard to change gear was because the guide plate warped when i used it incorrectly.
Temp fix:- put it in the bench vise to straighten it out. I ordered a new guide plate, it will be here in 15days :).
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me. Yes im an idiot but hey you learn from your mistakes.
This was my first rebuild and it went smoothly until i got the the gearshift linkage.
Now its time to fix my nc24 go-kart motor i picked up cheap, wish me luck.
