another thing, why the fuck does the haynes manual suggest using loctite on the damper rod bolt?
1 its a bitch to get out in the first place.
2 when its in place and torque up, bellow it is the axel, the axel is clamped (ie not spinning), so even if the bolt was to come undone it wouldnt fully unwind,
2.a posible leak, but see idea 3.
2.b new copper washer gets crushed and also creates a layer of seal with said bolt, also increasing the SMALL gap between head and axel.
3 Silicon is the "winner, winner, chicken dinner"

In my case, I drilled them to about 10mm to effectively allow zero damping! A valve emulator now sits on top of the damping rod which controls comp damping. :)

I dont think the RVF forks will be the same, there cartridge forks right, same as the later NC30 forks.
The early K model forks were damper rods.
Sorry Rick but I dont have any apart from the ones on the bike in peices.
I do have some later L/N model NC30 forks (cartridge type) here in pieces though! (well worth swapping too...)

Are they a dirrect swap or do i need lowers stancions etc

I think the lower legs are the same but the fork tubes, caps and all the internals are different.
I just brought a complete set of later forks, there in pieces atm as ive rebuilt them. They have two way adjustemts (compression and preload) as opposed to pre-load only and feel much nicer as they are cartridge desgin.
The K forks always felt vauge to me, nothing wrong with them just not much feedback
