That's not the standard fuel tap.
The 3EN's have a big plastic lever which gets broken if it isn't taken off before you lift the tank. But in breaking it also takes some of the spigot with it so you end up with an unusable fuel tap. Generally they set to RES so if you run out you're screwed.
The best thing is to get a new one, complete with the lever and the retaining screw (which you need), they were about £30 last time I bought one.
All of your bike is beginning to look very familar !!!!

Yes I didn't think that tap was right either.
See what you mean about the plastic tap,I had read about them busting in other posts! That answers the access question.
Hope I dont have to use Fowlers though, been on to them today and got nowhere,no luck with Wemto either. Cms in Holland are good but the postage cripples.Might try Clive Padgett.
Tried for a generator cover gasket but see that the later models dont use a gasket at all.Presume its either make one (old style) or use sealant.?? Wonder why they did away with it !!
The 3he generator cover mod is no good-the wiring is all wrong inside the casing for future reference.(taken from in depth discussions on other forums). You doing owt with your project like?
Been on all afternoon trying to source a 520 X c/s kit.Put a link up to the ones you use if you get time (saw comments somewhere)Did you have problems with Renthal front being too thin on gearbox shaft as others seem to have?

".Got started with this 400 mularky cos I went to see one not 2 miles away a fortnight ago with smashed fairings for £400 and didnt know owt about them.He said £300 as I walked away!!! It was tidier than this one,red R6 shock ,wanted rear tyre and fork seals-all panels wrecked but ran and was clean.Lesson learnt the hard way."
And guess what has just surfaced on both Ebay motors and Gumtree.
Might get lucky the second time round now having a bit more savvy thanks to members here.!
