Borrowed a hammer driven impact tool off my mechanic as I don't have a compressor. 15 minutes of banging, nothing.

Dad's mate runs a tool buy and hire place, he lent me a £400 or so Dewalt cordless rattle gun, 3 seconds, done.

Bolt is now off, now I need to shift the flywheel, I don't have a rotor puller, just a big bolt that Graeme France left me, I've tightened it up and gave it a hammer tap but no joy, any advice as I'm not really sure what I'm doing with this bit?

You dont hammer it.. keept tightening it until it pops the flyweheel off.

You might need to put the brake on or soemthign to stop it turning but keep turning it and it will force it off.

Well I just had my 14 stone father stood on the rear brake and had an adjustable spanner on the bolt, no joy. Although I have discovered if you REALLY apply my rear brake, it leaks. Everywhere. I'm glad I found this out now as the wheels are coming off tomorrow for powder coating!

Haha, seriously it's had some bad previous owners. And it's had about 11 of them so it's had a rough life!

I've turned this engine swap in to a complete rebuild. I'll do what I can afford but I'm replacing a fair bit so hopefully it'll all be sound afterwards as I'll of greased every bolt and cleaned every part!

Bought a rattle gun, can't afford it but I bought it anyway. Job done in about 2.5 seconds.

I had the same issues trying to remove my fly wheel so I rigged up a tool out of a 2x4 and a couple 1/4" drill bits. You can see the ends of them poking threw. I added the bed frame for extra leverage. Worked like a charm.

Ha, quite a tool you've made there, if it does the job though!

So glad I've bought that impact driver, it's already paid for itself in time saved on several stuck bolts. I think it's becoming my new socket set.

Now I want one. Already have a compressor so it wouldn't be a stretch to pick one up.
