I draw and model everything from scratch. Often takes longer than the machining to design parts.

If you were in my team I'd suggest you work differently. :o But then I'm in architecture.

I have found you need different offsets for the levers on different bikes. Pegs are a 5 minute design anyway, but sometimes a design of lever will not work because of the position of the master cylinder or exhaust getting in the way.
At the end of the day you can choose not to buy products if you think they are too expensive, but buying the cheaper stuff from abroad does not always pay as the quality is often the thing that suffers either in the machining or the materials used. Saying that, the aluminium Gilles use is like cheese and they charge a premium for their work.

I dunno, I've seen some pretty architectural rearsets...

A big part of the problem is people's perception of 'value'. They might be happy to chuck £300 away on a set of Gilles (for example) because 'they is Gilles, innit'- and it's all a bit badge to be honest- whereas a small volume manufacturer might be able to produce a higher quality part for the same price but it won't sell, because 'it's not Gilles, innit'... It really annoys the sh*t out of me.

I've modelled and made some adapter plates for the 3TJ to fit blue spots, but they'd cost close to £80 a pair if I chose to sell them. It's not worth it, because although there is a demand for them (as I've had lots of enquiries), people will not pay that for what is perceived to be a simple part. I've no doubt I could farm the work out to China and be able to sell them for less (just email the model to them and send some money) but then I'd be going against my 'keeping it as local as possible' ethos and joining the rest of the country in kicking the manufacturing industry while it's down.

Rant over, sorry if I've offended anyone's budget sensibilities.

I saw some adapters on e-bay a while back they looked like they just provided a fixing for the top mount and the bottom one used the original. It looked quite neat and the caliper still fitted against the fork leg.

I fitted a radial master cylinder, but got a stronger ratio so there isn't so much feel, but they really scrub the speed off. It's a cast Brembo (silver logo) and I got it second hand paying £100, a bit more than a pair of blue spot calipers themselves but possibly cheaper after you factor in the cost of the plates. I guess if I wanted the calipers I'd paint them silver to look a bit more in keeping.

I've seen those too but they don't work right. The blue spots need to be offset relative to the 3TJ fork leg so you can't use the standard 3TJ bottom fork mount.
