I'm using the standard 14mm vfr M/C and it's awesome, tried fitting a 17mm one from an SP2 and just didn't get the same compression and feeling at the lever. Odd as I've always believed that your should change the M/C to suit..
You believe incorrectly mate.

Most importantly the pistons in Firestorm calipers are 27+30, those in the RR calipers are 30+34 (I think, may even be bigger).

So there you have it ;)

Modern calipers almost all have pistons ITRO 30+34, so almost all radial master cylinders will work your calipers very nicely. Just cost a bit more than an equivalent 5/8" regular one.

That's right I have the firestorm ones on my NC30 for track and the CBR ones on my NC35, which would explain why the lever is not as good on my 35' as I haven't changed the M/C. But to be honest for normal road riding they are more than good enough! Will out brake my mates' SP2 easy! :-p

I tried to fit a set of rvf400 calipers I had lying around to nc30 forks - they won't fit, the caliper body fouls on the fork leg.

Firestorm calipers are the same as rvf400, not sure how you got yours to fit?

The pics of the forks above are of the firestorm and 600r thats why they fit cam,

The RVF calipers to fit to the 30 forks require i believe the same 600rr Rick Oliver brackets as the angle is slightly different.

Thats good too know ;)

Are they fully adjustable, and did you need to put lighter springs in?

The firestorm has gota be the worse handling bike ive ever had the misfortune of riding, those forks wouldnt be goling anywhere near a NC of mine without major work.

That's what I thought too, as I had some spare rvf calipers lying around I asked Rick what I'd need to fit them. Answer was they don't fit nc30's. I also later tried with some 600rr brackets, no way they'd fit either.

Made me realise I dont remember ever seeing vfr forks with rvf calipers fitted. Happy to be proven wrong!

Ditto, i thought the 600rr caliper fitted directly to the rvf without brackets now this has me all confused!

Everyday is a schoolday ;)
