Re: Dropped Valve and Holed Piston
Hi,
Just a quick update. Got a low mileage engine of ebay (13500 miles) at a very good price. Fitted it on on my days off and first impressions were very good, started on the button no horrible noises. A little white smoke but nothing alarming.
Took it out this morning for a test ride and the smoke got worse once warm but I hoped it was just condensation. After a good run all is good, no more smoking, gear changes are spot on and it performs really well (starts and idles better than the last engine).
Took the opportunity to fit a replacement rear shock that Taggy sold me (old one was weeping) and the back end feels much better and given me more confidence. Had an ocoassional twitch before which made me wary in some situations. Feels great now, thanks Taggy.
Also found some +1mm oversize pistons and rings so I can rebuild the broken engine in the future.
Happy days

Yes ... probably. The 3HE has common cases and is basically the same bottom end. it's the crank upwards that's different.CMSMJ1 wrote:While we are talking engines - does a 3EN clutch basket fit in a 3HE?
It is the barrels that are the difference innit?
