When its up and running were have to sort out another day at kevs to see what the difference is between running stock and HRC CDI's on it, plus also a HRC loaded ignitech to really put the rumours to bed once and for all. I should hopefully have a RVF running HRC carbs also soon so that might be worth comparing too.

Cant say fairer than that tony :D

I enjoyed it, was good to set another bench mark, so i know what i need to try next etc,

Ive said ill pop back in the summer in for coffee and the dyno of course,

Liam ive packed it all up gonna pop to posty posibly Tues afternoon or Wednesday as its the wife's birthday and were going to stay away tomorrow evening a for the night, unsure what time well get back tuesday.

Again thanks a million liam was good to get some results,

As for the printout kev has then saved on his computer i only had what i put up on here.

Kev's dyno doesn't do Ram Air does it?

How does the bike run at speed.. the rubber flap usually lets it breath better at idle but at speed the air turblance affects the running.

Still think your motors a little strange.

My bike behaves like most other 30's.

(I had 57hp with 1/2 system 115/118 jets and everything else normal.. fuelling was around 14.7 throught the entire range so it's still close to the ideal mixture.. 118/120's will make it slightly rich but thats a good place to be in.

I also have a slight dip around 7-8k (hardly noticeable but you can see it on the graph so will be shimming the needles.)

You cut holes in your airbox and have a different filter etc, have you tried the dyno with a standard airbox and filter?

I don't understand why your bike is running so rich! Especially with a full system on it. Power seems ok now nd the curve looks nice and smooth but why's it getting so much fuel! Espeically down the bottom end!

I'll get some 120's/118's lashed in over the next couple of weeks, shim the needles and check the valve clearances and let you know how I get on with fuelling.

The dyno at the shop is the same type as Kev's so results shouldn't be too far out.

F3 bike uses an F3 race loom.

HRC stuff works best as a package.. as you know, when building a proper F3 spec bike, the carbs are radically different (160 mains), open air-box, longer con-rods, pistons, inlet outlet ports enlarged, slick tyres, cams, sprockets, wheels, forks, radiators, rear shock.

Basically everythign on the bike is different.

People just see that it makes around 80hp and think by doing some of the stuff it'll happen, you really need the whole package, but more importantly it's a race bike, not a street bike.. the idle is 3000rpm and it's geared and jetted for racing. Wouldn't be much fun on a street.

The Ignition box really would benefit from the camshafts and what not as it'll be mapped to match them, without it it's not worth using.

Totally agree with you Neo, I think Ricky's point was to prove that simply bolting on an HRC CDI will not make your bike produce any more power. Now we just need comparatives with bikes in HRC spec

With regard to the F3 CDI I purchased it with the intent of building a full F3 motor to run it with. Then we will see what power it will make and can compare it to what HRC say it will on the front of the F3 manual

How much bhp do you think a full F3 kitted bike will put out? Will be interesting to see how much money you have to spend to gain the extra power when its dynoed.

Honda quoted 78ps.

I had a graph somewhere of an F3 30 on the dyno. It made 80.something HP if I remember rightly, will see if I can find

Will be interesting to see that. Imagine riding it round cadwell would show the big bikes how to do it on the straights aswell as the bends!

Interesting results!

I have a different view on the RVF HRC CDI effects; it may not increase power but to me, when compared back to back with an OE unit, it did improve the pick up noticeably! I'm not a guru of any kind (certainly not on bike set up), but I do know what I felt when I swapped the CDI's!

I should add that I've no need to "up" the HRC stuff to try and justify its cost, especially when the one I've got cost me nothing (I got lucky) and also, I best described on here quite a long time ago; its effects compare to how my old RGV250 revved!

:plus: Maybe I am not getting the fullest out of such RVF hrc cdi but the midrange pick up is noticeable better compared to RVF stock cdi. I am not after top ranged power on my street RVF.
